So I started seriously working out with a personal trainer a few weeks ago, however I’m STARVING after my workouts! I’ve been craving peanut butter and now I’m up a pound  Any tips for a quick but satisfying “post workout” snack?

The weight increase is probably from muscle/join inflammation and water retention. at least that's what I'm told. I've been working out every day for 4 weeks and haven't lost anything (but I definitely feel great). I'm usually not hungry after working out but if I am then I have been eating a couple Thanksson blackened chicken strips (from the frozen section) or 12 raw almonds. I have to make sure I drink a lot of extra water, too.

I work out before eating. And then have my lunch or breakfast after.

@ilsa1105 Pinterest energy bites. I think they were about 2pts each.

@ilsa1105  I add some dried berries as well. The joy about these is you only really need one or two after a work out. I will eat these before a run.

Apple and PB However. MELT THE PB! it goes a lot further if you melt it. I cut up my apple and then melt some PB for 30 seconds in the microwave and drizzle it on top of the slices and dust it with cinnamon. perfection!

PB2 peanut butter is very low in points. Some people don’t like the texture at first, but you get use to it. You can mix it in other things, also.

If you're craving peanut butter use PB2. I make it thinner and drizzle it on bananas.

I would suggest bumping up your protein, , i like built bars, and will take the boost drink to the gym to have while i work out, , peanut butter, even the reduced sugar/fat brands, send my blood sugar soaring; my son does the more strenuous workouts, and he drinks the protein/whey shake, usually with a banana or avocado in it, , , let us know what works for you!

It’s probably just water retention from working out. I do peanut butter after work outs all the time. It was actually recommended by our wellness person at work.

Look at the amped line from Isagenix - great stuff for pre-workouts, during workouts and post workouts!

It is very, very possible your muscles are simply retaining water to repair themselves since it sounds like you are new to this much exercise. This even happens to athletes who are getting ready for a meet or a new season. Take some of these suggestions about additional food but don't panic yet. Once your muscles get use to this much exercise, things will even out.

Peanut butter and banana slices. You would not be craving peanut butter if you were actually allowing for it on your weight loss journey.

I love a smoothie made from garden of life chocolate protein, ice, COFFEE, and almond milk. I drink half on my way to the gym, and drink the rest when I’m famished after the workout. After, it’s mostly melted but still cold and satisfying.

Exercise can cause muscles to retain water to help them heal. This can show on the scale as a temporary gain, no loss or smaller than usual loss. The scale might be wonky for a few weeks. Get enough protein and some good fats.

I love PB with honey maid crackers. I eat that after my workouts. I’m a Zumba instructor and I love this snack.

When you work out super hard, you will feel very hungry. you can avoid that by adding some fats to your meals. avocados, olive oil, salmon, eggs, bacon.

Protein, protein and more protein. Helps with muscle build too. I weight train and I'm always hungry. I eat loads of chicken, and lots of fat free protein yogurt x
