Help!  What am I doing wrong?Help! What am I doing wrong? I’ve gone from absolutely no working out, to riding my bike for up to a mile (every day it’s a longer ride). I’ve gone from eating so much and eating nothing but junk, to fasting from 8pm-12pm, I’ve started eating all healthy foods, and drastically decreased my sugar intake. AND I’ve gone from drinking all soda, to drinking all water (lemon water in the AM) But I haven’t lost weight! Nothing  it’s been 2 weeks already. I used to be super fit before kids. but definitely lost myself  145 lbs to 242 lbs. HAAAALLLLPPPPP
Help! What am I doing wrong?

Not sure how long you have been doing this, but weight loss from excercise can take 2-3 months before being noticeable. The it can go really quickly. Also, you tend to eat more calories when doing cardio (and you do need it! ). So don't stress and keep going. Any for of excercise is a very good start

Now I see the 2 weeks. My holiday kgs normally only come after a month. Weight loss is not instantaneous unfortunately

@apc just wasn’t sure if she was actually doing that or not. She doesn’t say. Just that she was eating healthier.
by (5.9k points)
@foredo2 she started with biking, so even if it's over a relatively short distance, it is much better than doing nothing
by (760 points)
@apc I never said she wasn’t doing anything lol I’m just asking if she’s watching her calories. I can eat salads all day but if my salads + toppings are hitting over my 1, 400 caloric intake, I won’t lose weight. Just offering some advice.

Ah so sorry! For some reason my original comment got added to your comment when it was supposed to be under mine. So weird. Sorry for the mix up!

Are your clothes a little loose? New exercise or change in regular exercise can cause muscles to retain water to help them heal. This can show on the scale as a temporary gain, no loss, or smaller than usual loss. I started working out again and the scale went up 4 pounds. Its temporary. Make sure you are tracking honestly. Get enough protein and some good fats each day. You want to live while you lose. So its good to find a balance. Sonetimes i go out to eat or have a treat.

Kids ruin everything  just kidding, but i have 3 and i am in the same boat. I hear that having a good breakfast can jump start your metabolism. No idea how true that is, but good luck! Sometimes it just takes a little bit before the weight starts to come off

Your body might need a little more time to burn off stored weight. Dont get discouraged, keep up the good work

Maybe you've gained muscle and lost fat. You would have lost inches but not weight

It took you longer than 2 weeks to put it all on it isnt going to just fall right off. You are on the right path just keep doing what you are doing. Its really only recommended to lose a few pounds a week. It wont happen over night.

I was frustrated when started exercising and was losing as fast as I thought I should. My coach told me that she didn't see any weight loss upon starting her fitness program until 6 weeks into the program. I kept the faith and sure enough, the scale started moving at 6 weeks. Best of luck to you!

Are you counting your calories? Do you know what your caloric intake is? You won’t lose weight if you’re eating over body’s natural calorie intake. You need to be in caloric deficit.
by (4.5k points)
@foredo2 You dont need to count calories on weight watchers. Just stay with in your points allowance.
by (760 points)
@westberry52 I wasn’t sure if she was following WW or not. She doesn’t say.
by (1.8k points)
@westberry52, you do if you’re on anything but green. You can completely follow the rules of WW and be eating waaaay too many calories. That’s why they brought the other plan (green) back. And even on green you could be eating too much fruit.
by (8k points)
@westberry52 if she’s not loosing on WW, some people will count calories to double check themselves. Although fruit can be zero points, you can over indulge and counting calories for a bit would confirm this. 2 weeks with no loss and all those changes sound strange to me.

Maybe stop the intermittent fasting for now and encorporate more vegan meals w/ different rices as the carb. Bean dishes for dinner really help. My favorite is WW South Indian Lentil Stew recipe. Start fasting again once you are seeing some weightloss. Good luck!

Try eating a little often to keep burning. No intermittent fasting. Keep exercising. I find that certain foods make me bloated. Ones with preservatives so pay attention to that

Your portion size may be part of it. Cut sugar altogether and avoid carbs, make sure you are sleeping, if possible try varying exercise, get out for a walk if you can safely do so, be sure to get enough sleep AND stopping stressing about the number. It's more important to actually be healthy. Only weigh in once a week and I'm betting the weight will come off

I agree with what others have said, your body might just need a little more time on the healthier track before your weight drops. I also know from experience that healthier choices often have more points/calories than we think so looking into exactly how many you consume each day might be helpful. Also, try mixing things up a bit, lower points one day, more the next, walking instead of the bike ride, exercising an extra 30 minutes a few days a week or moving faster for a minute every 5-10 minutes during your regular exercise. Thechanges you have made are excellent and will pay off in so many ways, please give yourself some grace and enjoy feeling better and being healthier no matter what the scale says!

I'm not an expert but I do have years of personal experience. But this is still my opinion! The combination of in created exercise and the fasting may be causing your body to store food energy as opposed to using it. Fasting tends to trick the body into storing more food, I think you said you are fasting for 16 hours a day. The exercise will use stored energy, but then you fast and the body stores. My suggestion is stop the fasting, exercise and eat according to the program. Good luck

Have you had full physical? Do you get enough sleep? Are you stressed? Bec all these things can effect hormones and that effects how we keep weight on or take it off

I’m curious as well! I’m in a similar boat. I just started exercising daily HIIT classes (online) and fasting. The scale hasn’t moved it’s actually gone up a pound. I’m now debating the fasting but I’ve spoken to so many people who were successful with it! Keep tracking and exercising though. Eventually the scale will start moving! Also considering measuring yourself instead of weighing.
by (1.1k points)
@ella44 Parent intermittent fasting is the way to go, only a few days a week. Also, I think it's better for metabolism if the fast is 4pm-8am.
by (950 points)
@mojica18 I was doing 11am-7pm. I don’t feel that I’m taking any any less calories though then just not snacking after 7 and having a normal breakfast. The big thing for me was eliminating eating after dinner.
by (1.1k points)
@ella44 Parent yes. I think way too many people eat big dinner too late, it totally effects sleep and digestion.

Just something I learned with intermittent fasting even drinking water with lemon breaks the fast . The idea is to shut down the insulin for twelve plus hours and if u drink lemon the body has to process that. Just a thought. I admire you getting on a new track. I have totally gone the other way. U inspired me to!

You need to constantly change your workouts and possibly eat more. Have you taken your measurements? Those are also wins don't just look for the scale to move. Also take a full body pic and then do it periodically (e. g. every 2-3 months). Hope this helps.

You could be loosing inches instead. Sometimes it also takes time cause you be getting muscle which is making your stronger. I would not worry at all

Make sure you measure also what are you eating in your window? If you're not getting healthy fat, good protein, veggies and fruit your body will stall. Hang tight as long as you're drinking your water your getting close to a whoosh

You are doing what you need to. Your body is adjusting. It will take a little time. Just make sure you are tracking everything and drinking enough water. You can do this. Just give your body time to adjust

I been loosing about 2 pounds a week. On green with 37 points and zero point fruits and vegetables. Some weeks i work out some i dont. Make sure your getting enough sleep and not stressinv uou self out. As might want to do fiber to make your not holding. If your doing muscle building you will retain water first. Try to switch it up! And lastly measuring is always good

The biggest culprits for me, are thyroid, estrogen and muscle weight. The muscle weight you can gauge with your clothes but the scale won’t show it. The other two you need a blood test.

Also I know from experience stress causes problems with the thyroid

If you are not eating enough, your body will go into starvation mode and horde fat, to keep you alive. 8pm to 12pm fasting is a long time with no protein going into your body. Drastic changes don't always work. I would follow the ww plan and eat 3 healthy meals a day. And drink lots of water
by (5.3k points)
@woe3 I agree, follow the WW Plan and enter your food into the WW App on your phone. It’s the only diet that has worked for me. I’m 68 with Hypothyroidism, so the Struggle is Real. Always stay within 10 Pts. of your Daily Pts. to succeed. I also eat organic plain yogurt with fresh berries as snacks/dessert 0pts.

Keep lots of fruit and veggies in the fridge . I “graze” during the day with a handful of blueberries, or a couple of strawberries, a 1/4 cup Greek yogurt with a little fruit. I never starve myself because I know I’ll go overboard. Good luck

I would try changing your fasting times. We need breakfast in the morning to fire up the metabolism for the day. I got better results when I do intermittent fasting 3-4 days a week and between the hours of 4pm-8am. Basically skip dinner. You'll wake up in the morning hungry, which is how it's supposed to be. that's why it's called break fast. You may also find your sleep is better because your body isn't so focused on digestion while your sleeping and instead to focus more on repairing and resetting your body.

I feel like I wrote this article. I’m thinking it’s stress hormones kicking in. It’s been almost 30 days for me and I only lost like 4 lbs. google can stress prevent you from losing weight?
by (1.1k points)
@symbolist yes it can. Just remember you're playing the long game. This is a long distance run, not a sprint. If you change behaviors around food for the better, the weight will come off. Just relax and try to enjoy the journey. Foods started tasting differently to me, eventually you'll be drawn to healthy stuff and your body will feel sick at the thought of a milkshake, it will all become habitual and part of a healthy lifestyle.

Glad to hear you are working towards better health! Eating healthy and exercise pluse adding water to your day. So very important for we don't realized how dehydrated we actually are. You are on the right track. just a few things you need to tweak. Mindset! Imagine you are already at the end of where you would like to be with your health. Keep persistent everyday celebrate the smallest changes and decisions you made to get healthy. like YES I am not eating a pail of ice cream a week. lol that was my favorite . I have also incorporated other health supplements to keep me on target to crush my cravinging as well the process carbs and sugars at a much slower rate.

It dependa on what you have to lose. Eat the points in the plan or your body will compensate by hanging onto fat. Don't eat pounts for exercise. Your body does get used to an exercise.

I think maybe the fasting its not a good idea . i am not an expert or anything, but the breakfast is really important and you should have at least 4 meals a day. It might be, that's not the best regime for you. Try something else and see what works best for you.

Breakfast! Even if its an egg white omelette with veggies of your choosing. Add some salsa and nonfat greek yogurt in place of sour cream! Get that metabolism going, stick with the workout routine, and always be mindful: muscle weights more than fat!

Fasting doesn’t work for everyone. It can even ruin an otherwise good metabolism. I have a decent one and fasting does zippo for me. I quit doing it pretty quickly and things got better. Some metabolisms slow down with fasting, as to preserve energy (and lbs unfortunately).

Muscle is more dense than fat! So as you're getting healthier and nor fit you're adding muscle while dropping fat. Until you start seeing the scale change you should watch your inches. Take measurement s of your body. You may not notice a huge weight change right away, but you will probably see your body change in inches! Have you noticed your clothes are fitting better?
