So I’m 19 and need to lose about 80 pounds. I’m taking collagen powder daily, but I’m extremely worried about loose skin. This fear won’t stop me from losing weight obviously, but did any of you have loose skin from losing that much weight? Or have any tips to prevent loose skin? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Your 19. you have age on your side! Collagen and MCT will help for sure! Yoga and pilates will help lengthen your muscles. DON'T try to drop it FAST . The cleaner you eat the better your body will respond!

One of the best ways to help with loose skin is losing slowly and building muscle. this way the muscle fills empty space and if you're losing slower it gives your skin a chance to "shrink" back

Also working out while loosing weight helped me big time. I also filled in the loose skin on my arms with muscle. Not manly bulky muscle but feminine strong muscle.

Lose weight slowly do cardio and weight training. if you lose fast you have more chances of loose skin. uae firming lotions and drink or take collegen supplements. you are young so you will tighten pretty good just do it slowly. by doing weight training and cardio it helps build muscle that burns more calories and keeps your skin tighter.

Pilates! I just did the Windsor Pilates workouts. You can find them on YouTube now. I lost 60lbs when I was 35 & did not have a problem with loose skin.

@lorineloriner1 please make sure to do them correctly. I was doing advanced (windsor) Pilates as well. I injured my back and now 10 years later I can’t even walk for more than 3 min. Even after chiropractic treatments, acupuncture, homeopathic meds etc.

Sorry to be Debbie Downer but I have terrible loose skin at my lower abdomen but you are young so you should be able to get rid if it easily. I'm over double your age. Just work out & it will tighten up.

If you are taking collagen and would like it to work properly make sure you take vitamin c with it.

Lose slowly, exercise, and make sure you have a well rounded diet. You are young so your skin will snap back. So proud of you to be losing now when you are young—I wish I had!

I lost 80 pounds when I was in my early 40s. I did not have too much skin. I excercised . took Calcium to help my body regain itself. my leader told me it would take about a year for my body to rebound. an it did. so hang in there. you will be fine.

Lose slowly so your body adjusts. At 19, your skin should have good elasticity. Lots of water!

Girl! You’re 19! You already DO and will look amazing no matter how quickly you lose. Age is the biggest factor. Do it now! It is SO much harder if you wait 20 years!

Because you are so young your skin will actually bounce back quite easily the one thing I am going to tell you because as I was younger I lost at least 150 pounds is you have to exercise you’re going to have to exercise in order to keep things tight I’m not saying there’s not gonna be some areas that what you could possibly hide with clothes but for the most part you’re genetically made up to string back so good luck with that and I’m sure you’re going to do awesome

My best advice is to lose the 80 lbs and never gain them back. You are you enough it may not be too bad. Healthier body with loose skin is still better than tight skin around lots of fat. I've lost over 200 lbs and yea there is lose skin. Ill take it all day long over the 200 lbs.

Eat well and exercise and just take care of yourself. At your age a lot will bounce back. Anything that doesn’t either won’t bother you or you can address later. I have lots of friends much older who have lost tons of weight and have loose skin. Most don’t care. The one who does has a husband who loves her exactly as she is so she decided to hell with it and now embraces it.

Be a of your age, loose skin won’t be as big of a problem as you may think. I lost 60lbs when I was 23 and had none.

Be sure to exercise & begin lifting weights. May want to consult a trainer at a gym for help. I’ve lost 60 pounds & am older so losing weight for me incorporated regular & consistent exercise along with a weight training regimen. Good luck!

At your age if you lose weight on WW and do some exercise you should be ok ! No fad diets ! Lose about 2 pounds a week

Loose skin is more about skin elasticity (age) and the speed you lose weight than the amount. 5kg very fast vs 20kg at a steady pace will have different effects and you’re young so your skin will have a lot of elasticity. If you’re worried talk to a dermatologist, they can advise your risk and/or things that can reduce likelihood

You are so young. As long as you do toning exercises consistently I bet you will be pleased with the results.

You're really young so you still have a lot of elasticity in your skin. The collagen powder will help, as well as weight training.

Bottom line is skin elasticity. Age, speed of weight loss, and toning exercises are all determining factors.
