Finally took the plunge and I am starting WW on May 1, 2020. I will be on the Blue Plan. I need to have my hip replaced, so I am trying to loose some weight to better recover. Any suggestion to help make my journey successful ?

I joined cuz I needed a knee replacement and wanted to put it off for a couple years. I am now down 84 pounds

@cussed82 I hope it helps me drop a few LBS!

@clintonclintonia it works!

Has it helped with your joint pain? My hip needs replaced and then I will have my left knee done sometime. I am hoping loosing weight and biking will help my hip!

It has helped but I still get cortisone injections also
by (370 points)
@cussed82 the Dr. will not give me cortisone shots anymore, I only do steroid blocks done at the hospital now. So that is why I am hoping that loosing some weight helps.

Count EVERYTHING you put in your mouth (don't lie to yourself) and treat yourself at least once a week. My day has always been weigh day because if I go over I have the rest of the week to make it up!

Reported both of these posts to admin.

@cussed82 Admin pulled them. But, they'll be back up shortly I'm sure

@swarts ok, well thanks for watching out for us then.

@swarts what are you referring to?
by (9.6k points)
@fendig There were spam ads trying to sell WW 28 day diet plan, but they were from a foreign location. I reported them and ADM removed them. I'm sure that they will be back shortly as they keep getting posted on all of these sites.

@clintonclintonia Welcome to WW! Since no one else has shared this, I will. It is a WW link for one free month when you join. Of course, like everything else right now, they won't be having the weekly meetings quite yet.  but you can still do the online stuff. Good luck! .

I’m thinking of starting-did you do anything special to prepare like a pantry clean out or buy special stuff at the grocery store beforehand?
by (370 points)
We have not done anything special yet. I still have a high school Senior at home with me so we still have his snacks that he likes, so I can not just get rid of somethings. I am going to need a lot of will power!

They suggest pre-surgical physical therapy you can find on line to strengthen those muscles needed for quicker recovery. While on ww can be a good idea to concentrate on these exercises. Kill 2 birds with one stone. All great ways to prepare for surgery. Good luck on both. Only suggestions.

Exercise and build up your muscles around your knee. it will help in recovery. because they will have you up the next day walking. I will have to have mine done too

I've had 3 hip replacements. I'll be praying for you and wishing you well! In the meantime to lose weight, drink lots of water and walk whenever you can. I'm sure you're in pain and that's why you are getting the hip replaced. Once this is over and you've gone through therapy, you will feel so much better and be pain free!
