I see some of you making your goal weight, and I have to commend you all! I've been in the blue program for just 3 months now and don't know how a goal weight is determined. I'm at 172. 1 today and have thought about going Lifetime, but something tells me I'm not the one to determine where my weight should to earn this privilege. Can anyone enlighten me? I'm clueless at the point. Thanks in advance.

Look at your BMI chart or body fat percentage to be in a healthy range.

Following. I think my suggested goal weight is bit low and unrealistic for me, I have checked with my doctor as well. Wondering if I can set my own goal weight and still make lifetime.

@unbowed if you get a dr note stating what he/she wants your weight to be ww will honor that

@samira14 how would I get it to them if I do online only.

@unbowed you can't reach lifetime online only anyway. Technically you gave to lose the last 10 or 15 lbs at meetings to reach lifetime and weigh in once a month. Things are a little different now obviously, but Normally that's how it is

My leader guided me through that process so I really don't know how it goes from here.

WW sets a goal weight but my doctor and I feel it is too low. Even if I could reach it, I probably couldn't maintain it. So we came up with a number and I have a note from my doctor which I give to ww. They are pretty good about it. It is only 10# more than what they have on their charts

I talked with my dr. I went down to the weight I was comfortable with and she wrote me a note for that desired weight. They have to take it. Their goal weight was unrealistic.

When I looked mine up in the app, there was a 33lb variance in the range of what WW considers a goal weight range. I’m sure this variance is due to body type. I know what the low end number looks on me because I’ve weighed that in my 20’s and I looked sickly. On the high end I think I’ll look about how I want to, so I went with the high end number when I set my goal weight. It’s my understanding you have to be within their suggested range to be able to hit “Lifetime”, and I believe you can also hit lifetime w/o in person meetings as the new WW is set up for multiple options.

WW didn’t set a goal weight for me. I set one based on the healthy weight for my height. I chose the highest number, figuring I can change it later. I am about 20 pounds from that goal so not worried yet, just setting small achievable weekly goals.

I changed mine in the app. Settings --> Weight Setting --> Goal Weight. I took what was recommended when I signed up a couple of years ago. I've had my major ups & downs with my weight. Recently, I picked a weight I feel that I could maintain as I know I once did. I wasn't necessarily worried about the # WW set for me originally as I've struggled & would be happier with something I feel is more realistic for me & my life. Once I hit that goal I can always change my goal weight to lose more.

I checked the WW recommendations and the weight indicated was the weight of 1 of my breasts . Totally unrealistic! I'm going to keep going until I'm happy with my body (and my big boobies).

@pomeranian haha. My doctor says, she thinks they set it intentionally low, because that’s when you get free meetings. ‍♀️

@unbowed ahhh that makes sense!

When I joined 3 years ago, WW picked my goal, according to height. I am only 5'1 . They used the high end of the Chart. It said 132 lbs. I weighed a little over 200 and thought that was ridiculous. They don't take your age into consideration. I was 70 years old. I was on Freestyle, which is now blue. I was depressed because I figured, no way could I reach that goal! Well . in a little over a year, not only did I reach goal, but went down to 118 lbs. Have maintained around 120 now for over 2 years ! WW . works !

Goal weights are based on height, weight, age and gender( basically based on BMI). You are given a large range and you can choose. If you and your Doctor feel a different weight is good for you, have them write a note stating that. It will be accepted. The suggested weight range, based on information you provided is on your app under settings-weight settings.

I just checked under settings-weight settings, and my app is showing my goal is 170. Since I'm at 172. 1 now, looks like I have very little left to lose. Personally, I'd like to reduce to 160 or lower, but should I be satisfied with the 170 goal WW gave me and jump on Lifetime membership?

@idiographic Well that’s entirely up to you. There is 6 weeks of maintenance before you become life time. Keep in mind a weight that is good for you to maintain
