Hey everybody!  So long story short.Hey everybody! So long story short. I was down 25 lbs, but then got sick with a really bad stomach bug and stopped tracking and gained only a few pounds back. Now with covid-19 here and quarantining I've gained back over 10 lbs. Now I'm trying to quit smoking. I don't want to gain everything back by trying to better my health. Has anyone quit smoking while doing WW and what did you do that helped? Thank you!

I quit smoking a year ago last month. And since last February, I have lost 60 pounds. I had a plan in action before I picked my quit date. Changed eating habits, started working out, started drinking a ton of water. When I quit, I used toothpicks. With a toothpick in my mouth, I couldn’t mindlessly eat. 30 of the 60 pounds I lost before WW. When I joined 3 months ago, I have lost an additional 30 pounds. I still have a long way to go but getting there. The biggest advice I can give you, is to cheer yourself on. Seriously. Every morning I would look at myself in the mirror and tell myself I could do this and I was good enough to do this. And I know you can do it too! If I can do it, seriously. Anyone can do it! *sorry for such a long comment

I used to use coffee sirrers or straws as pacifiers when I quit. Calorie free and helps the hand to mouth part of the addiction.

I would brush my teeth every time I wanted to eat or smoke. I had the healthiest mouth ever.

Figure out why you’re smoking. To relieve stress? Meditate Fill time? Clean your sink, oven, pantry, fridge. Your choice Void feeling? Go for a short walk and enjoy nature Need personal time? Walks Because it goes great with morning coffee? So does calling a friend, getting in touch with family, do the dishes- make a big breakfast. Replace your bad habit- with a good habit.

That is my next goal. For me, if I try to break both bad habits at the same time I’ll fail at both. I need to conquer one and make it a new good lifestyle change first. Then I can conquer the other. Again, that’s just me, though. I completely understand the struggle.

I’ve never smoked but, have gained some since the quarantine . I’m back on track now. I gave myself a re start date and circled it on the calendar. For you I would really try and quit smoking first . Just keep trying to track. Keep busy. Walks help . It’s very hard time so don’t beat yourself up and if you mess up just restart.

Someone told me something that stuck with me. There will never be a good time to do it. And she was right, the universe is never going to hand you the perfect set of circumstances, low stress, plenty of time, lovely companions. Maybe get a notebook and start writing down your thoughts and feelings? For me, having a lot of busy work (housework, finances, yardwork) helps.

I quit smoking 10 years ago. Don't try to do both at the same time. Concentrate on one ot the other. It's too much and you'll end up not doing neither. My advice is to quit smoking first, then tackle the weight. Exercise helped me and Chantix. Yes I gained about 10 pounds but easily got it back off after getting the smoking under control. Its not easy to quit nut well worth it. Think of the money you'll save let alone your health! Good luck and prayers to you!

I meal plan and post in WW app all three meals in the morning- this really helps acts as a reminder where I will be at after dinner and snacks. And lots of water. Good luck‼️

I quit smoking then started WW. I chew gum, and eat SF candy. It's hard at first with the nicotine cravings and then it's hard with food cravings because everything tastes better after you quit smoking. I'm not gonna lie, the first couple weeks was rough but you will get there. One day at a time.

What type of stomach bug did you have? My mom is having such pain in her stomach!

@voltz2872 I'm not sure what kind it was, but it was accompanied by a fever, aches, chills, and severe diarrhea. I couldn't keep anything down for days.

It depends on a person, some prefer chewing gum, toothpick or something to suck on (frozen healthy juices), others like constant reminders of why. such us sticky notes, journaling, picture. and some like turning the craving into work - gardening, housework, painting. good luck. you got this. Positive attitude is the very first initiative that should be taken
