Highly recommend you go to a running store and let them fit you. I’ve loved New Balance, Merrells and SOME Nike’s, but it all depends on the shoe for me. Don’t feel obligated to buy them at the store. You can always shop around online once you know what you want. Buy a pair of socks if you feel you want to compensate them for their time. I generally am so grateful, I will pay the inflated price.

You really need to go to a running store and get fitted. What works for me, might not be the best option for you. They will watch you walk and check your gait, and determine the best shoe. For me, that's either Asics or Brooks, but again, those might not be the best for you. Good fitting shoes make such a difference. Good luck! :)

When things open back up (depending where you are), I’d go to a running store and get properly fitted. Good shoes are make a difference and are worth every penny. I wear the Mizuno Waverunner . graduated from a New Balance shoe.

Have you looked into orthopedics? The arches in both of my feet have fallen but orthodics have really helped. New balance or Merrells are wonderful but the best shoe I have come across are from SAS shoes. They are designed for all types of foot problems but they aren't cheap! But they are worth every penny!

My New Balance Trail Runners are great for walking, very supportive and comfortable. More supportive than a plain sneaker / cross trainer and I’ve owned Nike, Reebok, Puma, Converse, and Sketchers. More like a comfy low hiking boot without all the weight and bulk, and cuter too. I got a great deal at Big 5 on sale!

I love Ecco brand. I have flat feet and plantar fasciitis and they are the most comfortable and supportive shoes I have ever owned. I pronate and have no problems with roll out. I also have arthritis in both knees and need a double knee replacement. They’re the only shoes that I can wear without my knees hurting.

I tried New Balance and they’re pretty good! I’m going to try Vionic because I have wide, flat feet and they are suggested for my foot type, along with Orthoheal. Brooks are good, but there’s a lot of knock offs that are claimed to be Brooks. It happened to me before. Do NOT get Nike if you have wide or flat feet. They will not accommodate you, and will end up causing foot problems. I have needed two different physical therapy treatments of 20 session each time because of wearing Nikes.

You should go get fitted for the proper shoe, best way for least injury :) local running store could fit you properly. I got fitted, I have a flat foot. I now buy brooks adrenaline gts or asics, but they need to be stability shoes, not neutral

by (610 points)
@marmawke which ones did you get? I'm getting a pair soon but not sure which one to get, I have flat feet too.
by (26.7k points)
I buy either Boston or Arizona. Since I live in a very hot climate, I wear Arizona every day, but if I’m walking more, I wear Boston. And they also have lace up styles that give even more support. I just don’t like closed in shoes because my feet get too hot!

If your foot is flat, U should definitely get an orthotic even if it is from CVS. Dr Scholls or even Spenco. These tend to make you get a sneaker that is 1/2 size bigger. With this orthotic in your sneaker, then it really depends on the width of your feet. You truly cannot go by a specific brand name. For the most part, they all do the same. You personally need comfort. inside the sneakers is really most important along with the type of your socks. Your socks should be sweat resistant and a $1. 00 sock is not going to work.
