So, I originally gained 65lb due to undiagnosed hypothyroidism. Then another 55lb while pregnant. I tried to lose it before knowing about the hypothyroidism, without any luck. I'm looking for guidance or inspiration - is weight loss possible with treated hypothyroidism? I'm just wondering if my goal weight is realistic.

I have it, and it took about a 50 lb weight gain to be diagnosed. I can lose weight, but it is slowwwww. Like half a lb to one lb a week. I also have to do pretty heavy workouts to really lose the weight. It’s definitely possible, we just have to work a little harder! I’ve lost almost 25 lbs now since Jan 1!

My doctor also changed my prescription from the generic Levothyroxine to the brand name Synthroid, and I think that made a bit of a difference

If it's being treated then yes you should be able to lose weight. It might be harder and you definitely want to keep in contact with your doctor as your medication dose will change as you lose weight.

I have hypothyroidism and am on medication. I gained a lot of weight (like almost 50 lbs) before being diagnosed. It also took me a year to find the proper dosage of medicine to work. I started WW in January and have lost 25 lbs. it’s harder I think to lose weight with hypothyroidism. What has been working for me is drinking tons of water and moving a ton! I run/walk 4+ miles a day.

I have it and have lost almost 40lbs. It's slower but possible. I have also lowered my blood pressure so that I don't have to take meds for that any more. I take Nature-Throd 130mg

Do you mind me asking what were your symptoms of hypothyroidism?

@holohedral weight gain, fatigue and depression. Also irregular cycle and unable to get pregnant. I only was diagnosed because I miraculously became pregnant. I had gained 65lb but thought my antidepressants were at fault and weren't working.

I also have major thyroid issues. Had to have my thyroid removed. My highest weight was about 230 and now at 155. My average weight loss per month was 8-10 pounds. No exercise. Last 5 pounds the weight loss slowed.

Very possible. I've been on synthroid for past 44 years. Lost 116 lbs on WW.
