Has anyone made the 2 ingredient dough and the dough didn’t rise when baking? I used self rising flour too. This is the third time I’ve made them and they are flat! What am I doing wrong?

Even with the self rising flour, I do 1 tsp baking powder and 1 tsp of baking soda. And they come out great!

@apartheid how much flour to make these?
by (320 points)
@apartheid I’ll try adding both next time.

@apartheid I do the same. The first time I made them they were a little flat so I added the baking soda and powder every other time I made them and they came out great.

@promote31133 I've made the 2 ingredient dough for pizza and calzones. Haven't tried making bagels yet. I saw where someone made dinner rolls that looked really good

Are you using self rising flour?
by (320 points)
@halfblood yes, I am. I made one batch and they are very tiny- flat and small lol

If you're mot using self rising flour, you need to use 2 teaspoons baking powder.

@halfblood I used self rising flour. One batch I made was regular flour but I added in baking powder. Still flat.

@welty6, equal parts FF greek yogurt and self rising flour. kneed using a bit more self-rising flour. After you formed them and put them on your baking sheet, brush with egg wash and seasoning of choice. 375 degrees. 25 minutes

I had problems with mine too when i did them in the oven. Now I mix them and let them rest for 15 minutes. Shape them brush them with egg wash and seasoning of choice. Then i cook them in my airfryer @ 360 for 5 minutes each side and theyve been coming out perfect.

When I made it with store brand yogurt it was a hot mess! Very sticky and gooey. Had to add a lot of extra flour. Splurged on Fage yogurt and and made it again. Mixed up perfectly. Made delicious bagels and cinnamon rolls.

What kind of yogurt? I’ve used Fage and I’ve made bagels three times, not had an issue at all. I think when it’s a different brand of yogurt it doesn’t not as well from what I’ve seen on other posts. Something to do with the water content of the other brands.

@eversole those look fantastic! Mine didn’t come close to looking like yours lol

I use a mixer with a dough hook, equal parts, I’ve been adding my onion powder or garlic powder to the flour (1 tsp/cup) and I coat the formed dough with flour before hand kneading for just a moment with flour on the counter. I try to get them to 4 oz each. I used the air fryer the first time and now just bake them. I do have to bake them longer than other folks it seems so 375 for like 28 minutes. So sorry yours aren’t working. Are you at a higher altitude? I know several recipes have different directions for higher altitudes? Idk how to help you, wish I could.

@eversole thank you . I’m not at a high altitude. I’m giving it one more try and if it doesn’t work out, I’m throwing in the towel lol
