Just got my Fitbit.  Today is my first full day using it.Just got my Fitbit. Today is my first full day using it. Does it bother anyone else that it isn't accurate? I have managed to take 24 steps without leaving my chair. This makes me wonder what the point of it is if it is going to be inaccurate.

I wear it on my non-dominant hand, and it's not typically too far off. But, someone once told me that movement is good for weight loss, so even if it's not steps, it's still movement, and you're not being idle. It helped me think of it a little differently.

Brushing my teeth, washing my face and doing my makeup gives me hundreds of steps. It's definitely frustrating. I have it set to dominate hand which is supposed to make it more accurate when on my dominate hand but it doesn't help.

Yeah, do the non dominant hand and set your step goal a bit higher knowing that some of them aren’t actually steps

I just hot one yesterday as a gift, and I am really frustrated with it.

They should actually make one for the ankle. I think that would be more accurate

I have a Fitbit Zip that I can attach to my bra/sports bra / pants and I never have the issues you all are describing. It seems to truly track steps, not movement.

Maybe attach it to your bra strap?

Also remember when you go to the grocery store do not hold on to the cart otherwise it won't count either your wrist has to be moving for it to count

When I first got my Fitbit I had to have it replaced because it did the same thing yours did I literally was sitting not moving and I got a lot of steps so I would check it and have see if you have to have it replaced because it may not be working correctly cuz it does count when you move your wrist but I also it doesn't always count your movements if you're not walking

Good advice. I was going to buy one. So other than the Apple Watch what is the best fitness tracker for steps?

Here is the other issue. My WW app is not matching the Fitbit.

It’s an activity tracker, moving arms is activity as is steps!

I have to laugh. We are outside of New Orleans. Last week we drove across Lake Pontchartrain. On our way home, driving on the older, rougher side of the Causeway Bridge, I felt my Fitbit vibrate. Every bump in the road was counting as steps! Needless to say, I met my goal that day!

My car used to make my Fitbit “count” steps. I switched to Apple Watch

Mine did that for the first week and then it got it together and only tracked steps

Mine works right most of the time, but a couple of times I have made my step goal while clapping. Once I made goal when I had been typing for 2 hours.

Whatever arm you have the Fitbit on when you move that arm it is counting the movement. However if you hold onto a grocery cart it does not record steps unless you put it in your jacket or pants pocket. It tracks the movement (steps) . I love mine. Had it more than a year & syncs with WW.

I think it takes a min to catch up and register.

Goes with arm movements that you have your fitbit on! I can wave my arm around and gives me steps! Really you should build on your minutes and not worry about the steps. Just reminder what ever wrist you have your fitbit on is the arm that needs to be free from shopping trips or take the fitbit off and put in your pocket! You do not earn anything when holding on to a shopping cart with both hands!

@anatto98593 I put on ankle for shopping, pushing stroller, etc.

A hairstylist friend of mine would get steps while cutting hair due to her arm movement. She wore it around her ankle to get true steps.

I have an older model of fitbit. I got discouraged when i had over 500 steps while driving to work. I guess i must have been driving a Flinstones vehicle.

I drive a fork lift where I work, and I can get 10, 000 steps from driving in a 12 hour shift. Although. that's a hard day of driving my arse of. I'm exhausted after that.

Lots of times just movement sets it off!
