I desperately need someone to be my mentor. I'm not succeeding at all. Everyday I seem to cheat. It's so hard to find sugar free items in this part of Canada. Could someone be my mentor? Someone I could message when I'm feeling the urge to cheat. Having a terrible time getting off chocolate! Thank You! ❤❤

I’m a chocoholic and one thing that always saved me was FF chocolate pudding with cut up banana and cool whip
by (470 points)
@wares7951 hi. Was is off pudding? Imagine, went to the dollar store yesterday and ate 4 chocolate bars in the store! The girl at check out laughed when I gave her the wrappers!

You don't have to give up on chocolate. Just find low point alternative. Like WW chocolate protein bars, built bars etc.
by (470 points)
@crosseye400 thank you
by (470 points)
@crosseye400 but. its best for me to stay away from chocolate. I just need to get it out of my system! Had 4 yesterday. grrrrrh

Sugar free isn’t necessarily the best option although it’s convenient. Sometimes a smaller portion of a full fat full sugar item will satisfy your craving better than a fake version of the same thing. Have the fatty sugary stuff, but have it less often and count your points.
by (10.5k points)
@schulman agree completely! I also see people posting 0 point meals (which typically won’t be successful or satisfying as a meal). I mention the meals only because there are ways, as you mentioned, to feel satisfied without sacrificing. I would rather have a 4/5 point muffin than a 0/1 point sweet that only leaves me wanting more!
by (7k points)
@schulman Yes! Several years ago my neurologist and my rheumatologist told me to stop consuming artificial sweeteners. I don’t even use Stevia. They told me to only use a limited amount of pure cane sugar, so that’s what I do.

Cut the sugar for 3 days and it will get easier. You don’t need sugar free items you need to find a lot of good weight watcher recipes. Look on Pinterest make yourself a Pinterest account and you’ll find a lot of good things to eat. Portion control is important.

That's what I like about this group. I kind of feel like we are all accountability partners. There is little judgment and a whole lot of support and advice.

WW isn't about eating sugar free foods. That's not a requirement especially since no where in the WW guidelines does it say no sugar. Instead if being so hard on yourself be proud you're working on a healthier lifestyle. It doesn't happen overnight and takes time. ‍♀️
by (10.5k points)
@pervious you are so right! I don’t cut anything out because I’m learning to eat in moderation. I talked to my doctor and she said eat what you want. If you want that bowl if ice cream, have a small bowl and then skip the wine. It’s all about choices.

There is a mentorship in one of the other WW Facebook pages. No Finish Line Nation. I've mentored there before and it was good for me as well as her. Please know that the struggle is real right now and you're NOT alone in this fight. I know I struggle a lot of days and some days I'm successful and some days I'm not. Food is like a drug, especially sugar, to me. I can't get started because I can't stop. I'm not perfect and don't want to be but I am very humbled on how far I have come. I hope you find peace friend.

I once heard that a WW coach told their group, “If you say no to it at the store, you only have to say no once. ” I thought that was perfect. For me, I had to make losing weight more important than my cravings. I’m not always perfect at it, but when I want to give in I tell myself that giving in will not get me to my goal. I started at 235 lbs. I’m 157 now with 17 lbs to goal.
by (6.7k points)
Sometimes I will put something in my cart in a store and eventually? Take that baby out again because I know I have low control. That is a good saying you posted! I need portion control, so unfortunately that means packaged things which is not very environmentally sound, but that is what helps me. I save points for my nightime snacks.
by (12.5k points)
@unbar396 Same. There are certain things I just won’t buy because I know I’ll have to say no to it a million times. guaranteed to give in at least once. and will probably eat the whole thing.

What about trying chocolate kisses. They're a small one bite "fix" to my big craving for chocolate. I let one melt in my mouth for as long as it will go. Sometimes it takes two "fixes"! The other thing I try is to delay having my chocolate because sometimes it goes away or calms down.

In reality SF items make you crave more surgar , try adding more healthy fat , avocado, almonds , hemp seeds etc I know those cravings are real hard , weight loss is not all bout the points but foodsthat fuel

I’ve tried to change my perspective from “I can’t eat that to I don’t eat that”. It helped me get over the initial cravings. I am type 2 diabetic with a huge sweet tooth. I tracked down my triggers for binging on foods high in sugar . turns out it was things like bread, cookies etc. If I don’t have any, I don’t want any. However, I piece of toast turns into 6 . I found that berries/apples are a good replacement for me - they don’t spike my sugar or send me on a binge! I also make sure I don’t have much sweet things in the house - it helps that my kids don’t need school snacks anymore.

I decided not to have certain things in the house. 1 for me leads to 20. First week was hard getting off my sugar cravings. But week 2 I found I feel so much better and I don’t crave sugar. I used dannon light and fit yogurts for my tread. As said don’t say can’t. Think of your health and substitute. YOU CAN DO IT BECAUSE YOU ARE WORTH IT! Ok
by (3.6k points)
@thatch you make a really good suggestion/point in terms of not having tempting stuff in house. I buy my husband ice cream bars and you know what? I end up grabbing them instead of him. I have to figure out how to let him have treats he wants and me not to eat them
by (8.3k points)
@thatch let him buy them and stash them away where you can't see them every time you open a cupboard or refrigerator door. But don't ask them where they are !

I try to avoid processed sugar as much as I can, because of other health issues, not just because of WW. Now when I occasionally try to eat a sweet, it is too sweet. If you keep trying, your body will probably adjust. I also had a friend that loved chocolate and candy bars. She would take her favorites, cut them in very small pieces and freeze. She would allow herself one piece per day. You might have to allow yourself more than one per day right now, but decrease that number over time. Hang in there! It’s either tough for us all, or it has been.

You don’t want to eat sugar free anyways! It’s so bad for you. I am doing just fine on WW and NEVER eat sugar free. If you need any advice all I can say, for me, just don’t have the food you cannot eat in the home. I plan my meals, have low point snacks available and I always have a “reward meal” on the day of my weigh in.

I love my chocolate, don't restrict yourself too much, this is a lifestyle change not a diet. The more you say I can't have something the more you want. When pre planning meals I always add my favorites into my daily pts, I eat chocolate everyday and still am losing, I have dessert everyday. I drink fairlife chocolate protein shakes everyday 2 pts each on  I buy chocolate hummus and put on chocolate rice cakes topped with a banana, work your plan

The hardest thing will make it easier. If you can stop eating sugar and chocolate entirely for a couple of days, you will gradually stop craving it. It's worse than quitting smoking for the first few days, but worth it. Some people can eat one piece of candy, but if I have one, I have 10.

I lost 100 lbs 7 years ago. If I did well that day. I would reward my self with one small square of chocolate 70 or 80 percent coco depending on what I could find.

Sugar-free stuff is not good for and you it makes you feel hungry make your own things get sugar-free dark chocolate chips made with Stevia use Monk fruit or xylitol it taste just like sugar and it’s not artificial sweetener just don’t let your dog get it the only thing sugar-free that I use and I hate it but I don’t have a choice right now is sugar-free maple syrup because I put that in my oatmeal at night The first few weeks even the first month is the hardest because you kind of detox and go through with drawls but it gets easier fill a Bowl full of oranges bananas apples grapes

Have you looked into Built Bars on line. They are really big, thin chocolate coating on the out side and delicious variety of flavors offered for the inside. Only 3 WW points. They are protein bars. I cut mine up into three sections and have a piece when I need a fix of something sweet. Another sweet fix is a Carmel rice cake (1 point) with a thin layer of Nutella on top. I count it as 3 points. Another chocolate fix is 3, 2, 1 cake in a mug. Use devils cook cake mixed with angel food cake. 3 TBS. cake mix, 2 TBS. water mix in a mug. And microwave for 1 minute or less if you have a powerful microwave. Add a squirt of lite chocolate syrup on top and lite whip cream. It is low in calories and is 4 WW points and worth it. Good luck
