I had to rush Bauer to the emergency vet today which cost $1844. Which I had to put on my visa. I don't have enough EF to cover it. Should I rearrange some cash envelopes or take from other future sinking funds to pay it ? Or treat it as a new bill ?

I hope he’s ok. I would treat it as a new bill.

Hope he is on the mend. New bill  and now you need a pet emergency sinking fund for the future for sure. If you end up with extra in your envelopes this month throw it at this bill!

Hope he’s okay or going to be okay! Treat it as a new bill. Definitely agree that you should set up an emergency fund for the fur babies as well.

Hello from a fellow greyhound owner! I have a pet cushion fund that I contribute to each check. I also have pet insurance because. greyhounds

@buckshot755 pet insurance is a great idea unless your pet has a pre condition. They won't cover it :( I'm pro insurance. I have it but got it for my animals when they where young. Pet cushion is a good idea!

@capstan oh that’s frustrating about the pre existing condition. I know the insurance I have has a wellness option so they reimbursement for the regular care including flea prevention, dental (a small amount) and fecals.

They are the best dogs ever! I have two as well. My boy dog has to go in for a blood test on Thursday to make sure he is cleared of Lyme antibodies. Shouldn’t be too much but we also need to get dentals done soon!

I have an emergency pet/vet sinking fund. The best envelope I’ve created so far. I’ve had two pet emergencies and had the cash in the fund to cover the charges both times. And, yes, I have a separate envelope for pet supplies and food.

I’m a greyhound mom too! (X2 actually) We also had an unexpected vet visit over the weekend. Fortunately our visit was nowhere near as expensive as yours! Hope he is all better!
