Hello Fellow Partners! I’m in a bit off a pickle and need a bit advice.Hello Fellow Partners! I’m in a bit off a pickle and need a bit advice. I worked for the Bucks for the majority of 2017 and I was called back to Active Duty in 2018 for a few months. When I returned, Starbucks didn’t initially hire me back because I wasn’t trained (My store went through 3 managers and utter chaos). In the meantime I took various jobs and I landed at Sonic as an Assistant Manager under a kind of sketch guy who gave me a good hourly rate with 40+ hours and I made great money weekly. But then sketch manager quit and then we got a new manager and he cut my hours to 30-40. I’m still weekly but I’ve had to live out of my savings since Jan and I can’t pay my rent next month. At the same time in Feb, the Bucks finally offered me a position as a Barista and a Shift in a April. I have been part time there for a month and I start full time at Starbucks on the 9th. I’m trying to put in my 2 weeks at Sonic but that’s not going well. Any tips or should I stay at Sonic where I’m the glue that holds everyone together? My new manager is trying to wheel and deal something new. I don’t know if that’s a good idea. Plus I’m trying to go to law school next year and only Starbucks has really been supportive.

Praying that the right answer comes your way. I recently changed jobs and the same fears/questions popped up in my mind. Go with your gut. You may be the glue at Sonic at the moment, but is that where your heart is? See which job will get you closer to your ultimate goal. And thank you for your service to our country!

No it’s not where my heart is. My heart is in law and since Starbucks is basically almost everywhere except for 2 continents, and my franchise of Sonic only covers parts of SC, VA, FL, and NC, Sonic is not really helping me.

No. Go where you are supported. It’s not your job to hold that store together. It’s your job to work towards your goals. “Thank you for everything, my last day is x”

agree as well! If you stay to "hold the store together", that credit won't go to you, it'll go to your manager, the one that only cares to cut your hours. So let them figure out their job without you. Remember you are always dispensable to a company.

It sounds like you want to be back with Starbucks and if they are supportive of your goals - you go with them. You can be considered the glue for Sonic but it sounds like they will never allow you to advance because of it. It’s my understanding that Starbucks has a solid program to help with education too- am I correct?

Go where they'll support your ultimate goals. Even when you're the "glue" holding things together, it's not always what's best for you. I felt that way when I was a Shift lead at a GetGo cafe and the thing is they didn't care when I needed time off for my kids, I ended up fired because of points. They're getting along fine without me, Sonic will get along fine without you.

Sounds like Starbucks is the better option. I’d just say thank you for the opportunities here, but the best choice for my future plans is to move on. Give them two weeks notice as a courtesy (and I’ve always been taught don’t burn bridges you may need them again).

No way. Leave sonic. You put your two weeks in. Don’t stay where you’re the glue just because.

You said it yourself. You can’t pay your rent next month. That’s your answer. They only now want to wheel and deal because you’re leaving.

Girl, run back to where you are supported. Starbucks will pay for your undergrad degree, and likely offers better benefits overall.

Hello everyone! I'm super new to this group and just started my very first budget this month so I'm not quite sure if this question is allowed, but are there any types of side hustles that can help earn a little extra income?
