Help me out, y’all.  I am looking for a “take the dog or the trash out” shoe.Help me out, y’all. I am looking for a “take the dog or the trash out” shoe. Or to run out to the car. Nothing fancy, but functional in most weather for spring-fall. I’m considering crocs. My question: are crocs better bought name brand or are off brands just as nice for my needs? Either way, what’s your tips to save money and find the best deal and/or your favorite place to buy them?

@catechize which would be fine if our house didn’t stay on 68 on heat. I’m always wearing socks!
by (14.2k points)
@gilgilba lol I’m no help because I’ll wear them in any weather except snow
by (2k points)
@catechize hahaha if it isn’t for socks they’re my go to also! Or barefoot in summer!

You need crocs. Sooooo good. And I don’t like the off brand as much. I wear my crocs all the time.
by (2k points)
@trustbuster I figured as much! Any tips on saving money on them?
by (7.3k points)
@gilgilba they often have a BOGO in their website or have them discounted. I do the BOGO a lot & get two pairs for $40. They last me a long time. The pair I have now I wear every day and have had them over a year and they are still good.
by (2k points)
@trustbuster ooh I’ll look at the bogo! Unfortunately, only lined ones are discounted right now. I already checked!

I love my crocs. People hate on them, but they're comfortable, and easy on and off for quick runs outside. I've had mine for 3 or 4 years and they're still like new. They were under $30 at Nordstrom Rack.

I love Birkenstock’s! I have the rubbery ones and they’re waterproof. About $50 but so worth it
by (1k points)
@lupus I have found the EVA Birkenstocks for around $40. I love all my Birks but the EVA are all weather. I have a house pair and then my outside the house pair.

@dainedainty847 yep! Those are the ones I’m talking about! I have 3 pairs  black, silver, and pink. I wear them for everything!
by (1k points)
@lupus I have silver & blue. I’m getting a black pair once it actually is spring here. I currently wear my silver ones all the time

I have a $2 pair of Walmart flip flops I leave outside my kitchen door for exactly this. They never come inside the house as I wear them to clean up after the dogs on the grass, too.
by (2.3k points)
There are non flip flop style, too, if you wear socks a lot.

Crocs my husband swears by them for trash and taking the dogs out. I just throw on flip flops. He’s had a pair that has lasted for years and i believe we got them on sale at the crocs store.

I always said I would NEVER own a pair of Crocs but my boyfriend's family lives in them and I gave in once at the beach when we went to a Crocs outlet. I will say that they are super easy and functional and seem to last a long time

@gilgilba This is a great question. I too am in need of slip on shoes. I have always hated on crocs until I started wearing my teens for around the house. I have to say I love them.

We use crocs for exactly what you described. Taking the trash out. Running to the car etc. My husband has indoor crocs that he wears around the house also. I think we got them at an outlet store.

I use my crocs for taking the dog out and when camping. It’s nice to have something easy to sleep on over socks when it’s a little chilly out. I bought mine with a 20% off at Famous Footwear.

I use slides because I don’t have to take my socks off. I’m sure you can buy them cheap soon since it will be spring/summer. Something like this-

My husband left his Crocs at my mom’s during our last visit. He complained about it for days. I had my sister mail them without him knowing and he was ridiculously happy.

Crocs. Definitely invest in the name brand. The website always seems to have good deals! They are worth every penny and super comfty!

We use cheap waterproof sandals (yes I even use them in the snow cuz I’m lazy ) or I use my off brand moccasins or waterproof knee boots my fiancé got a few years back for free!

@gilgilba gotcha! Crocs or crock like shoes are great! If they are just for quick trips outside I wouldn’t spend too much on them.

I buy them on sale online or at the outlet for ridiculously inexpensive, and we use them for exactly this purpose. My daughter even has a couple pairs she LIVES in. We also have some with the fur lining for winter. They're GREAT. Also awesome for the pool

I bought slid on shoes from Petco. They were too cute to pass up, and I'm a dog groomer so I use them for work too. But they are super easy to slip on and walk out the door.

Crocs are pretty amazing except in the winter (if you have to worry about that) I also LOVE Walmart for cute cheap flats! $10 ones that I actually loved wearing to work, and didn’t care if they got trashed.

My fav frugal spot for shoes are the Amazon Warehouse Deals. They are open box items, so mostly in very good or like new condition, but deeply discounted. I've purchased three pairs of Stride Rite shoes that retail at $40+ all for under $15, which is great considering how fast toddlers grow!

I bought a pair of fake crocs from Avon years and years ago. I think they were about $5. Still use them for this purpose. So have both my kids. We call them My “uglies”
