Hi Everyone.  I have a couple questions.Hi Everyone. I have a couple questions. 1. Where do you buy your shirts? The reason I ask is because I am wasting money here. Every time I buy a shirt its what I call see through. You see the outline of the bra and even the color of said bra depending on color of shirt. I am tired of buying shirts and not able to wear them out due to this. 2. I've noticed a lot of big budget people are moms. I am not one. Is there a budget person out there that is single and no kids. I am learning from the Budget Mom but it would be nice to see how single and no kids people are doing some stuff. :) Hope everyone has an awesome day.

I love old navy shirts! They’re basic tees and perfect to dress up or down. There are some colors that are more see through than others but a nude bra fixes that issue!

I get where you're coming from happily child-free in just living my best life but there's a budget I think can be adapted to any situation especially for me since I have been to multiple schools and have multiple loans to pay off

For number 1 I always wear old navy tunic tanks under my shirts. It will stop it from being see through

I always wear a tank top or camisole under my shirts and that stopped that for me.

Single and no kids. Ask away. Also, I'm wondering what type of tshirts you mean. Casual, wear with jeans? Or a little dressier, perhaps with slacks?

Hi guys! I don't have an actual question at the moment. Not of the top of my head. Was just wondering if there was any people like that out there. I do love the budget mom and going to start diving in deeper. Just was curious.

Nude bra always and a nude color tank underneath. I love my old navy tanks but Walmart tanks do the trick too.
by (17k points)
@suburbanite5 love those Walmart tanks/camis . $5 in a number of colors !

1. I have the same problem but always wear a nude colored bra that helps a lot. A got a few basic tees from Banana Republic on sale years ago and they’ve help up pretty well, but definitely get a nude bra! 2. I never thought of this before. I don’t really mind though. I’m separated from my husband and have no kids. The way I see it is if someone can do the debt free journey with kids, I can do it myself. I find it motivating actually.

The shirts are just basic t shirts. I am pretty lazy with clothes. T shirt and jeans. But my shirts are always to thin and showy. Even if I find a tank top to wear underneath you see everything. I have the worse luck with clothes and this topic makes me cry because it's so hard to explain it
by (3.3k points)
@tincture the best no see through tshirts imo that are very low priced are from Walmart. They are less than $4 (mine sells them for $3. 44). They have round neck or v neck. Pastels or brights. I've used them for over 10 years and I only need to buy new ones when my weight fluctuates (which is often lol)
by (6.9k points)
@flashboard i have those. And they are see through.
by (3.3k points)
@tincture hmm sorry to hear that. Mine are not they are very thick. Perhaps Walmart puts different ones in different regions of the country. Best of luck finding what works for you

I had the same issue. tshirts they make for women are usually really thin for whatever reason. I started buying men’s tshirts in smaller sizes. They are a bit boxy but they are usually much thicker and don’t show things through them. Don’t get the undershirts though, try to find something like a Hanes beefy-T

I think the question is what type of shirts? Dress for work? Casual? Etc . I’m single no kids and have no problems finding shirts

My favorite is the SO favorite V-neck at Kohl’s in the juniors section. I wear these with jeans or leggings most days and have several cardigans to layer with for work or colder days.

No kids, engaged but finances are separate. Seems to be the style these days. I try on everything before I buy it. I'm picky and very short so it hard to find things that fit well. If you are ordering online I always check return polices. If I have pay to ship them back or they don't have store location I tend not to order from those places.

1) I haven’t had the greatest luck with tshirts either but I always use a nude bra with white tshirts and I usually buy new tshirts every summer, they dont last as long as you would want them to last. 2) I’m single, no kids, loving the BBP workbook. I’m also an accountant so a lot of the stuff relates to my career and my math nerdy side , oh and worksheets!  I was “budgeting” (only for fixed expenses) using the paycheck method in excel before I found her but her method has really motivated me to really think about my personal spending (going out to eat, bars, clothing, ulta/sephora haha) , I don’t even want to do that anymore. I paid off my 4K credit card and one of my student loans in April. I also didn’t renew my lease at my apt and I’m downsizing into a studio size place in June (townhouse basement) where I will be saving $800/month . I’m excited!

Well bras are a trouble area also but we already had a post for it.   To bad none of you ladies live near me and can shop for me because like I said. No luck. I have tried Walmart. They are see through and super thin. Years and I mean years ago Jcpenny had solid color t shirts that worked great. I have not been able to find anything close to them in years. Sadly with clothing stores closed here I will have to wait longer to find some shirts.

There’s lots of people in here that aren’t women or married or with kids.  it’s just called the budget mom because that’s Miko’s name and she started out as a single mom with her budgeting. But we have people of all types in the group.
by (6.9k points)
@vespers oh I totally get that. Just was curious is all. I do like Miko and going to dive a little deeper.

@tincture they’re here even if they don’t post a lot. Haha. Hopefully you’ll pull some out of the shadows

Hi Larissa, There are a number of people on Instagram who are single or DINK ( Double income no kids) that share their true number. Here’s a list of people you may want to follow: • Mywealthdiary – This woman is KILLING it! She’s a consultant and makes $107K • Breakingbaddebt – She’s a doctor so high income. • Wheredidallourmoneygo – she’s hilarious! They are DINK – she makes $127K and he’s in the process of getting a new job. I don’t know how much you make so you may want to follow those who make similar income and see their budget. Best wishes.
by (6.9k points)
@erlina Rackliff pretty damn embarrassing. Its super low. Not a lot of jobs around here.
by (580 points)
Every individual I've mentioned above share their monthly budget and the results (good or bad) at the end of the month.
by (580 points)
@tincture It's okay. YOU GOT THIS. Find and follow people who make similar to you. Save my cents does not share her income but covers a lot of good topics. Personalfinanceclub is a guy but covers great topics as well. Don't follow anyone who is going to make you feel bad because no one needs that in their life.
by (5.5k points)
@erlina Rackliff I follow everyone you’ve mentioned. You may also want to follow the figuremaker , EOAB, jaymillenial. Even though jay makes $165k he is conservative and DIYs everything!
by (580 points)
@bragi32255 yep, I know Jay. I followed him for a little while. Man, that guy is hardcore. I had to stop following him because I'm a mom and yeah, I can't or don't have that type of saving rates. Things are being adjusted this year due to current events and family goals.

If you buy flesh coloured underwear you can’t see it under clothes.

I know that because I am a pastors wife and I bought some wide leg cream pants last season. I have to make sure there’s no embarrassing vpl with 200 people sitting behind me

No kids here except for the fur baby! ‍♀️ I live with my boyfriend, but we still keep all finances separate. Right now we’re in storm mode because we’re laid off due to the pandemic, so I’m living cheap, and with what’s left of unemployment after bills/expenses I’m working on piling up a big EF. Once things return to normal, I will resume working toward investments. One thing I’ll say, I’m very thankful to have become debt free before all this, definitely makes it easier to weather the storm.

Let me know what you find on the t-shirts! I hate when you get it home under good lighting and realize your whole chest is on display lol I am single with no kids (just 3 dogs). so i totally understand how some of the budget things TBM just dont match up with what i do. I have lots and trial and error about what works for me and what doesnt

Honestly, clothing is one thing I don’t mind spending money on. Quality clothing will last. I don’t get crazy, I shop during sales, but i don’t mind paying more for quality clothes.
by (6.9k points)
@massarelli Alattabi I will spend more if I have to if its what I want. But I have yet to find good quality clothes that fit.
by (2.4k points)
@tincture I buy clothes from Torrid (I’m plus size). Not sure if that would fit you or not but their clothes are quality

I was wondering this same question I love how cheap shirts were from fashion nova but they legit get holes in them after the second wash. I’m super plain I just want colored tees that fit nice and aren’t crazy expensive.
by (6.9k points)
@schoenberg7 @batholomew same. I just want solid color shirts.

See-through shirts  are a real issue for me too, so I’ve done a few things to help. I buy all nude bras now. Have you tried that yet? It’s so much better to not worry about what is showing. Also, I don’t buy the cheapest possible shirt and I don’t buy online. My best shirts are simple tees with a pocket from Target. I have like 5 different colors and none are sheer, even after months of wear. Also, make sure you are getting a size that isn’t being stretched. Try a couple different sizes to see which fits you best without pulling. Good luck!
