After a whole year of budgeting, January of 2020 I finally switched to cash envelopes. I see the hype now.

I actually get direct deposit so I pay all my online stuff first and then with what’s left I pull out cash and stuff like my food and gas envelopes. You could probably look up cash envelopes in the group search bar, there’s other posts if your interested in learning more. Or you can check the budget mom on YouTube. She goes over all her budgeting stuff there too

All of my January bills were paid. Did not have enough left over for cash envelopes so I just made work with what I could and what I had. But we're getting somewhere. little by little.

We spent less on takeout, but still have room for improvement. Groceries was over $50. We paid off a little over $1800 in debt. Not bad for the first month of tracking everything and being intentional with our money!

Ugh. I over spent, over ate and I’m very disappointed with myself. I’m hoping I can make some headway in Feb. I haven’t even looked at my budget yet.

I discovered exactly where my money goes every month. Too much if it was spending & eating out . I was still able to keep up with bills, but wonder why my savings weren’t where they needed to be ugh.

Not so Good Stuff: - Had $147 unexpected expenses - Had to pay $148 for a dead battery - Some bill's higher than expected - 1 zero-balance credit card closed due to inactivity which I would have preferred had not happened. Good stuff: - Had funds in car maintenance to cover dead battery - Some bills lower than expected - Saved $1000+ in account buffer - Saved $390 from cash categories for jolly challenge - Sent $442 additional payment to debt - Total debt balance (consumable debt + mortgage): Reduced by 2. 95% - Consumable debt only: Reduced by 7. 02%

Went okay. Could've been better. I spend too much on eating out . On a happy note. I have my emergency fund and savings acct ready to go. I'm following through on my sinking funds-which was really hard for me. I was soo nervous transferring money into those accts but i did and feels good that money will be there ready when i need it.

We were able to pay all bills and debt. We paid $1600 on debt only used the credit card once but paid it back next day. Put some money in sinking funds like auto insurance. But we spent way to much money on groceries $1699. We are going to give up home chef food delivery to expensive. At least we got good recipes to use now.

We did pretty good! We paid all our monthly bills and all the quarterly and annual bills that were due in January. Plus we cut back on groceries and tried our hand at meal planning. We went into February with a lower debt number and ready to do it again!
