If you can, get yourself a PO Box they way you can open a checking account without paperwork being sent to your house. Then you have somewhere to move money to.

Yes. But there are 62, 000 people so it’s more if a football stadium than a room.

You can always check the member listing, and if you have any friends in the group it’ll say it right at the top.

Oops. Sorry I didn’t see the private notice on the page. Thanks! I’m plotting to leave my spouse. I have all my budget and envelopes in my car so he can’t get to them. I’ve changed my hours to earlier in the morning so I can get a night job, I’ve put things up for sale. Any other ideas to bring money in?

@eucharis you would get a far much better response on an independent post. People might not see this. My piece of advice, just don’t make it so obvious that you’re plotting. Act normal as possible. Don’t know what the situation behind the departure but I wish you well and all the strength through all this.

@eucharis I am recently separated. The laws are different in every state-or are you focused on getting out safely?

Make sure you also have copies of everything. Birth certificates, retirement plans, bank statements, tax returns, shot records, ect. I would get a safety deposit box and a P. O. Box to store stuff in. Don’t forget pics even if you just make copies.

@eucharis are you concerned for a safety issue or just trying to set aside money before you go? Best advise I can give is get the paperwork going as soon as you can. If you don’t want to rush a legal divorce get a legal separation so you are protected financially.

@eucharis, if theres been any domestic violence, please reach out to an advocate at , they will help you safety plan and walk you through everything you'll need. They are available 24/7, you can get assistance immediately.

@eucharis same here. Find a safer place to stash your cash. Cars get broken into all the time. Get copies of all important documents (yours and even his in case supporting docs are needed for divorce). Sell what you can around the house. Figure out what debt you would be liable for once gone (will you have cancellation fees for cable for example). Each time you go to the grocery store buy a target or amazon gift card and stash them. Those will help as much as the cash too.

@tallula Check the state you live in. Some states consider a legal separation the same cost as a divorce. I would hate for you to pay twice.

Thanks for the great advice!. I’m safe. Just getting my ducks in a row.

@eucharis as an alternative to your car, do you have a trusted friend or family member who would let you stash the cash at their house?

@eucharis Wishing you the best.

@hostile I don’t. I’m going to get a safety deposit box. (Knock on wood)

Do you have a trusted sibling or friend? Support? Can you give them cash and important documents to hold for you?
