Ugh. Same honestly. I have an iPhone 7+. My battery life has taken a huuuuge nose dive and it doesn’t always work the way it should. So sad to have to get a new one after spending 2 years paying for it.

Marisa, check the battery health on it. You can always replace the battery.

@depone I wouldn’t know how to check the battery health. As for replacing it that’s a possibility but it’s not my only problem. I don’t get new phones until my current one is absolutely not working so it’ll be a few years still  not too worried yet. Maybe when Apple makes a cool folding phone like Samsung

Marisa, go to settings, battery, then hit battery health. It will tell you the percentage on what your battery is & it will let you know if it’s running on it’s optimized speed. Sometimes it’s just a battery issue and that takes care of the rest. Also, make sure you are running in the current IOS system.

See if you can find someone to "optimize it" My husband is in IT and there are many things that can slow a phone down. Unnecessary apps running in the background. Settings that can be changed. Whenever any phone starts running slow whether Apple or Android, he is usually able to find a way to streamline it and make it faster. That said, it is an Apple and they do seem to build a time limit into their products. But I would find someone to look at if first before worrying about a new phone.

I like Apple but after Steve Jobs dies the company can't get new ideas. Try some andriod phones.

I like to buy unlocked phones on Amazon and use Straight Talk for my plan. I don't get the flagship phone but I get a decent phone. Right now I have a Samsung Galaxy A50 and it works well. My phone plan is about 45 a month and I get more data than I use.

Whichever company you have should have older models available of phones that were released the last couple of years. Those phones should be more reasonably priced that the newer model phones.  Good luck!

I went from the 7plus to the 11 pro max (obviously before the budget mom lol). Amazing difference but if I had to do it over again I would save up for it instead. I would just create a sinking fund for a new phone. Since you still have a phone that works (albeit slower) I would use that until you have it. Also, if you don’t have to have the newest, you can save tons by upgrading to a phone a year or two older. They are brand new so you don’t have the slowing issue as you would from buying used and if you aren’t too hung up on your cell phone company, often cell companies will give you one for free or at least a huge discount off of retail.

I’ve always bought the phone outright first so I can have a cheaper plan

My iPhone 6 was about to die so I looked around and ended up buying an iPhone XS for under $500 on eBay. I just searched for refurbished with a return policy and watched it for a while until I found one in excellent condition for under $500. It was about $250 cheaper than I could find similar phones anywhere else. I’ve had it for a few weeks and it’s been perfect!

Check on Rakuten for any deals with maybe switching carriers. I know sprint is having a deal with new iPhones. I have Xfinity mobile and they r having a deal right now, switch to Xfinity and get $250 off ur fone with ur new line.

@sidran how good is their service — I use over 20gb of data monthly and I read that it slows down after that mark
by (3.8k points)
@wageworker my daughter uses 20-30 a month easily and she sees no difference in service. We went on a 10 state road trip this summer and had no issues with coverage either. At the time I had ATT (I was still paying off my fone) and everyone else had Xfinity. they all had better coverage than me! And an added bonus, with Xfinity unlimited u get personal hotspot included.

I called my provider and reported the problem. They sent me a new (to me) phone at no cost.

The iPhone 11- I was just in your shoes and upgraded from the 7- totally worth it and my payment is actually less than what I was paying for the 7!

We always buy older refurbished models with cash. Phones aren't a big priority for us though.

Check out the site swappa. com. That's where I bought my last phone and it was in perfect condition. So much cheaper!

I add a monthly phone payment to the end of my bill. A phone is a super high priority for me as this is my only source of communication and I do not have internet.

We had Apple iPhone 6plus. About a year ago Apple was offering trade in value. We got $240 trade in and bought iPhone XR for about $420 each. Paid for both outright.
