Ok, some of y’all can probably look and tell I’m an Oilfield worker, I been lurking on this page for about 4 or 5 months now but been clocking in close to 120 hours a week. 2019 was a good year I pulled 137k gross, some management and outside sales experience. It’s came to an abrupt stop due to covid19 and oil prices. I have tons of time and I’m super committed to anything I try. I’m looking to change things up. What’s a good starting point, or even a book to read? Obviously it took me several years to get good enough at my craft so I assume it would take the same to get good at media marketing. I have some experience in music marketing but I’m sure that’s a whole other category, I’m positive a few of you have seen at least one of my videos in the past. It had John Travolta and Jamie lee in it. Dancing. It was hilarious and hit the screens of well of 10 million people. It was a business venture a year and a half ago with some local artist. I’ve worked with them for close to 2 years before funding ran out. During this I’ve managed to work with some first class & b class artist. (I was funding) if you’d like to know more or can help assist a new journey please DM.

Read any book by Russell Brunson!

@blaylock3189 thanks appreciate it a lot

He just came out with a new one, but seriously they're all kind of must read for getting a fast track to the mindset of online earning.

@blaylock3189 worst advice in this thread. Don’t read a thing by Russell Brunson unless you’re game plan is scamming others out of money, because that’s all Russell and ClickFunnels does.

@magnify interesting. It's fair to say that Brunson's work is most applicable to info marketers. I don't think info marketing or the software that enables it is inherently evil, but I'm sure there are bad actors in the space. What would you suggest as a path to building an income online?

@blaylock3189 build a viable real business. The amount of “Ilearned digital marketing 6 months ago and now teach digital marketing courses to people like I was 6 months ago” is nauseating.

Fyi people have to start somewhere. As long as you are honest about your results thus far you can teach people what you know. Russel teaches the whole mentality of serve others first to get results then sell the info on how others can get those results. This is not scamming as long as you are not misrepresenting yourself as a guru when you are a beginner

@blaylock3189 Disgreed. I’ve read two of his books. Don’t read any books by him

Dot com secrets by Russell Brunson and then cashvertising (forgot author name). After that just start something and learn as you go - it’s the best way in my opinion. Once you’re generating revenue and profit and have that sorted (maybe 12-24 months in), read “traction” to learn how to manage and run your business effectively.

+1 for Cashvertising

⬆️ These two books are basically all you need to get started in ecom. Then to learn media buying I'd recommend Depesh Mandalia's CBO Cookbook and trainings by Smart Marketer (Ezra Firestone / Molly Pittman)

I think you're downscaling if we're talking value and complexity of skillset when you're going from roughnecking to social media marketing. But as you mentioned, oil price these days. I would've went with real estate, bitcoin or learm the ins and out of the diamond business if I were you and still had funds from your previous job. Just my 2 cents.

@ebby6460 when it starts coming back up real estate is a priority. Before hand I’m just looking to keep income rolling in. I’m well into 4 weeks with no pay check in sight. All good, I just need to kick it a gear up and learn a new trade. One that I can see is good when the whole world can’t go outside

What business and product will you be marketing? Figure that out, and the business model behind it, before you learn marketing. You cannot market a non-viable product

Good point.

If it's info, Brunson isn't a bad place to start lol

@blaylock3189 yes he is

@blaylock3189 Russell Brunson is the tai Lopez of the funnel world. Complete scam artist that has screwed countless hard working people out of money with the promise of “all you need is a really good funnel”. He is absolutely everything wrong with Entrepreneurship
