Oh gosh thats way more complicated, dig down and find a shoot coming from the root, if there are any, dip in root powder and pot on in some decent compost. not guaranteed but what a shame to loose a large bay, they are so expensive to buy

i have 2 standard bays which i am hoping to move in spring because they have done way better where i sited them than i expected so they need more room. I am hoping i don't kill them there are shoots coming from the bottom however so i will transplant them separately just in case

Cut New Years growth at just below nodule at an angle. Dip in rooting powder. Some people use honey, this keeps bacterias at bay but does not stimulate root growth. Cinnamon is supposed to encourage root growth.

You can't go wrong. Maybe get some rooting powder.

Looking for some advice I bought cut roses from Morrisons about a month ago - when they died the stems looked like they might sprout more leaf branches so I left them where they were.
