Excuse the washing.  What would you do to make the wall at the back look nicer?Excuse the washing. What would you do to make the wall at the back look nicer? We used to have a tree and ivy which came over from the back which was really pretty but theyve cut it down!

You could lift a couple of tiles from in front of the wall and grow your own ivy if you want. I happen to like the aged look, but a power wash would probably change the look dramatically.

I love this wall in its present 'shabby chic' finish. I think i would add a large outdoor mirror with shutters each side. to look like a window. then trellis each side of that and climbers. possibly roses, in posts up the trellis. then a couple of high mounted hanging baskets at each end. it would look spectacular

@rafa4 yes. we had the garden landscaped last summer so looked at doing that. We would list lose about a foot with the wood unfortunately :(
by (880 points)
Really! You can do it yourself with some battens and then just render/paint the bottom half. It was more the walls of the garden I was thinking!
by (680 points)
@rafa4 the right wall is leaning so there are breeze blocks holdings it up. The left side is just breeze blocks so were having that rendered. It looks amazing with render and wood! X

It depends on your budget and how much time you want to spend on caring for and watering plants? For high impact, ease of care and lowish budget. Paint the wall with masonry paint. Buy 3 largish tubs. Plant a climber in each like honeysuckle, a small leaved variegated ivy for colour all year and jasmine. Fix trellis along the wall and let the climbers romp away over them. Just feed, tidy up and water every week. Fairy lights along the wall would add a lovely atmosphere.

Cover in natural yogurt it will soon green up with moss then when established put aubretia seeds in the moss in all the colurs you can find it will look gorgeouse the yogurt needs several applications to build up food for the moss to grow.

I love your wall. I would just paint some random bricks with a fun color. A fun blue, or a fun green. Not the whole thing. It's gorgeous. Put some tall potted decorative tree or tall potted plants. Maybe archor a shelf or hooks to store outside stuff.
