Both the same but fire pit will give off heat in all directions where as chimnea it's focused in one direction
by (340 points)
@hedonism374 thank you, that’s what I was wondering x
by (610 points)
@parang91697 no problem lol just depends on your seating area ect on which would work better for you. We've had was garden layout was different x

We had a chiminea for about 5 years & then we decided to buy a firepit about 2 years ago so we could all sit around it. I've now just started thinking of going back to a chiminea mainly because if it's even a little bit windy the flames go everywhere & the chiminea feels more controlled/compact if that makes sense altho i do love all 4 of us around the firepit so will probably wait until we need to replace the firepit & then go back to a chiminea! Mx

@supernational110 thanks. I was swaying towards a fire pit but hadn’t thought of the flames in the wind x
by (420 points)
@parang91697 it's something I hadn't even thought about either! My hubby is thinking of building some kind of screen so that it's a bit more shielded which would be much better as the heat that comes off it is amazing. I'll attach a pic from the other night for you
by (420 points)
Scrubbed off my sons face lol but you can see how good a fire you can get on it- ours was from asda Mx
by (340 points)
@supernational110 that looks ideal, a nice roaring fire. Maybe an old fashioned fire guard would do the trick? X
by (340 points)
Do you know what diameter it is? X
by (420 points)
@parang91697 it's about 80cm- the biggest I could get at the time. My hubby was thinking of just getting a fence panel from b&m & making some 'feet' for it to create a kind of windbreak lol
by (810 points)
Our fire pit has a metal domed mesh top that you can put on while the fire is going and it stops most of the sparks etc I haven’t got a pic but we got it from b&m a couple of years ago

by (160 points)
I cant in my area too although alot of people are still doing it
by (230 points)
@hurlow8 I’m sure ours is no burning of garden wastes but are allowed garden log fire pits
by (3k points)
It is asked that you dont have fires if any sort as the smoke can cause people to cough more when the smoke irritates. You could have a neighbour suffering covid
by (1.2k points)
@parsaye60 it's government requests as Serviously can cause breathing issues to those with virus and those withouteho have breathing issues which will then need to go to hospital. I love love my fire butno fire here for a while. Xxx

Sorry to butt in but are they ok on decking or would I need something underneath it been thinking of getting one ta x
by (200 points)
@lurcher4 I would put something under them if on the decking
by (420 points)
I think I'd be a bit wary about putting my firepit on my decking as there's always lots of little embers flying about. :/ Mx
