Don’t know what to do about my Acer/acer’s, a bit of a unusual shape. The green acer has grown from the red one? What to do?

The green will be from the root stock and red from the graft. Cut the green out.

You could cut the green out. I have a twisted hazel, twisted bits are red then it put out straight bits the are green. I just snip em off xx

There different plants as leaves aren't the same spilt them into 2 pots  2 for the price of one

@huberty3058 I cant split them unfortunately as the green one has actually branched from the red one so it’s one plant x

Looks like you have the green growing out of the old root stock , find where the Graft is then prune right back to main stem anything below it

I agree with @kuhn42641 above . Acers are grafted so it will be the root stock. Is it planted beneath the graft perhaps? Anyway cut off the green. I'd be cautious about planting the green separately the root stock may be vigorous and grow massive.

Leave it and shape it, it looks cool

Oh my I thought I was the only one with a double acer, I'm gonna leave mine joined and shape both sides so they grow away from each other because the green one tends to over shadow the red one

The green maple will suck all the goodness up & your red acer may suffer or not grow Cut it out

@ampere24 Both are acers, part of the plant has reverted.

Maybe cut it off, dip in rooting power and see if you can grow it separately if it takes.

If you don’t mind the two together, just enjoy: you’ll probably need to repot into a larger container in ericaceous compost as it grows- could be tricky!

Try taking a cutting of the green one if you like it?
