I've put a new paved path in my garden. Please can anyone tell me how I can lower the grass so it is level with the path?

Slice the lawn back (roots only go down about an inch and a half) dig out some of the soil and put the lawn back.

@request what would I use, a spade? Thanks

That would work. Don't want a shovel as it's too wide. Just need to slice underneath, work at it in strips the width of the spade and go as far back as you need to. You can pull the soil up onto the path and lay the turf back until you're happy with the height then remove the soil on the path.

Don't worry about leaving soil on the lawn as you go it'll disappear. I used to have to slice through lawns laying cable TV for customers. It's fairly easy to do, just a case of remove soil, put the turf back down and repeat until you're happy with the level.

Dig it out, dig out some more soil and then put lawn back on

Should have put a deeper hardcore first to bring it up level

Don't know what the height is on the other side of the path - the path may have been put at the correct height.

Yep, my garden is on a slight slant. it is grass level on the other side.

You will need to remove the turf layer and put it to one side if you want to keep it. Remove a layer of the soil to bring it lower in line with the path and make it level. Then re-lay the turf or re-seed it.

Should of put path higher much easier than lowering a lawn

Lowering a lawn is a killer. Its very hard work! Either do some hard graft or leave it.

It might be a lot easier to raise the path than lower the grass?

Just slope the edges of the lawn.

Would be FAR less bother to bring path up to level of the lawn surely? If not I'd buy some sort of edging to stop the lawn growing over the pathway
