Suggest you leave it where it is if at all possible, bees are in great decline and every nest/hive is precious. If you must do something about it, phone a local beekeeping society, they will have advice and probably a solution. PLEASE do not destroy them.

You need a specialist to move it for you it's against the law to kill them

You have to leave it or call for it to be professionally moved. Bees are protected and rightly so! ❤️

We found a bees nest when we were demolishing our old shed, it was underneath it so when constructing the new one used bricks to elevate the new shed above the nest, they were never a problem before and not afterwards. your garden needs bees.

Bee keepers won't be interested in bumble bees as they do not make enough honey to be worthwhile. They will advise you to leave them and let them move on of their own accord.

They are a protected species. Beekeepers will not touch Bumbles . I got told that when a queen got into my wall and nested. You have to wait until she vacates her nest at the end of summer . When she has gone then you can block up holes so she don't come back.

Leave them alone, wait until they leave of their own accord then worry about your shed. Literally easiest way for you and the bees.

@porous750 leave them
by (570 points)
@theatre that's literally what I said.

I had them under my shed. They were never a bother, even when I painted it. Only problem I had was trying to stop neighbours cat from swatting them!

I'd phone bee keepers and hopefully you can move them. leaving them is not ideal if your needing your shed fitted but it might be the moral and legal thing to do . I reckon you will be able to have them moved though

I, ve got one in my compost bin of all places. Took lid off to turn it over and was promptly chased by dozens of bees. Ran in and sprayed my head with Raid. Well that’s one bin which won, t be getting added to this year!
by (360 points)
@milburr36 but on the plus side, you've created a home for lots of precious little pollinators
by (670 points)
Steve, wouldn, t have thought that had Ibeen stung, lol. No, I won’t go near that until later in the year now. Luckily Ihave two compost bins but don, t know why because I rarely use the stuff and it takes ages to become the real thing.

We had one by our back door last year. Didn't cause any problems and they didn't stay long. I would leave it until they move on. They have a hard enough time as it is.

I have a bumble bee nest under my log store, they don’t bother us at all. Lots of baby ones flying in and out every few minutes but they don’t swarm. It’s like a bee airport  we love them ♥️

Probably masonry wasps if they are in brickwork, tend to look like bees too, but they are harmless too. Council told me to leave them, even though they were nesting in the bathroom extraction vent, they moved on a year later.

We had a nest in our garden wall, we built the seating to allow them access in and out, and made sure we had flowers they could feed from, it was lovely seeing them, and never any trouble to us

Have one close to living room. Was worried initially but much more chilled now. They are not large in number and just get on with their thing really. Becoming quite rare too
