I planted one three years ago that my dad had grown from a pip. It’s blossoming and producing mini apples but no bigger than a large cherry. I have been told by gardening groups that it won’t produce real apples as it hasn’t been grafted (whatever that means). I am keeping it for sentimental reasons and it’s pretty. I prune it to keep it manageable.

I think you have to grow 2 and when they get so big you slice into one and graft part? Of the other and they will reproduce and grow apples. Ive tried it once bulls'd it up big time  now i just have a twig that keeps growing a few leaves
