Not sure why everyone is using 3D photos at the moment, they really arnt very useful for zooming in etc just make the whole process more wobbly  doesn’t look like a lily beetle to me, they are a bright vibrant red.
by (3.6k points)
I was thinking the very same thing. The photos aren't as clear either - make it hard to see what you need to look at.
by (5.1k points)
@request seem to be the popular choice at the moment but suspect it’s more the novelty of the tech rather than any practical benefit
by (3.6k points)
I can make them using Photoshop but the only purpose I see are for logos to make them stand out. Photos? No thanks.

by (360 points)
@maryannemarybella12 you can buy a bug spray that kills lily beetles, fantastic stuff!
by (550 points)
Thank you, I will invest in some x
by (790 points)
@maryannemarybella12 only thing is provado, thinks it spelt like that. It's in a yellow spray bottle. Other bug guns do not work.

Doesn’t look red enough for a lily beetle. They chew circular holes in the middle of the leaves.
by (390 points)
@myogenic546 @caller ohhh I noticed I had circle holes on my Lilly plant today
by (5.1k points)
@grosswardein sounds like you’ve got a lily beetle then. Look on the underside of the leaves for little muddy clumps - these are the babies. Wipe off with kitchen towel.
by (390 points)
@myogenic546 @caller I had it in a smaller pot and have moved it to the big one today and I will defo look tomorrow thanks

We have Lilly beetles I think their eating the leaves , but they don't look the same as this , more like a ladybird without the spots .
by (1.6k points)
@nucleoprotein4107 Burn yes that's what mine looked like, very red
by (1.5k points)
@amata You take them off a few hours later there are another few , they are red , never had them before .
by (1.6k points)

Very clever beetles, if the fall into the dirt they lay on their backs so you can’t see them. You also need to check the underneath of all the leaves and kill the eggs.

Lily beetle. They lay eggs under the lily leaves then when they hatch, the grubs eat the plant
by (1.9k points)
@palate Definitely have to get rid. I love my plants!

I agree that this is a cardinal beetle, though the angle doesn't help. Lily beetles are smaller, shorter and a brighter red. Also the fact it's on a fatsia rather than a lily or fritillary.
by (650 points)
(So don't kill it) (unlike lily beetles, which you can kill with fire and painnnnn)

by (580 points)
Does anyone has any tips, how to grow fatsia- it doesn’t seems to be growing
by (410 points)
@bindle I'm having problems with mine, I have discovered it seems to love loads of water, they are slow to get established, ?
by (580 points)
@ijssel oh that’s definitely the issue then. I haven’t been watering mine. X
by (2.8k points)
@bindle I give mine a good soaking every other day and it’s in the biggest pot I own and absolutely beautiful.
by (410 points)
@bindle , give it a bit of miracle grow as well, might give it a boost,
by (580 points)
@blowhard please show your fatsia x
by (580 points)
@ijssel doing that first thing in the morning x
by (410 points)
@bindle , ya, loads of water definitely, it might drop a few leaves after the neglect, but it will survive, I'm struggling with mine too,
by (580 points)
@ijssel lol lets try it x

They are awful on Lillies & just strip them bear. Keep checking daily as they seem to multiply from no where.
by (1.9k points)
@affable Price I think they are Cardinal Beetles. I'm going to check everyday to make sure there's no none.

Ignoring the fact that that would be one strange looking lily, it’s not a lily beetle, it’s got a red head. It’s a cardinal beetle

PLEASE stop using 3D photos! They are just confusing. They don't help anyone to look at something clearly and up close! i. e. an insect, a blight, a type of flower. I can't even attempt to help members if they don't post a photo that I can squeeze to expand and get in closer!
by (1.9k points)
