Is it too late to buy and plant peonies? I keep seeing the most beautiful pictures? I bought a lupin instead and the slugs are having a 3 course meal every night on it . but wish I'd bought peonies now? Thankyou

Peonies don’t like to be disturbed so when you plant them it may take 2-3 years before they flower. Mine were planted last year, they’ve grown well but only 1 tiny flower bud on each of 3 plants.

This! Peonies are a bit pricey for my budget, but I love them so I buy them bare root for cheaper and wait the 2-3 years for them to grow. We’ve been in our house 2. 5 years, and I have several plants that are growing well but no flowers this year.

Mine were bare roots - tree peonies. Can’t wait for a full display from them, hopefully next year.

Put some yoghurt cartoons full of beer around your garden, the slugs love it. You could also try putting gravel around the bottom of the Lupin. slugs don’t like gravel!

I sprinkle egg shells around my plants and it really makes a difference with the slugs x

With your lupin, take the bottom leaves off and see how that goes. It works for me.

Lidl had them for £6. 99 the other day quite big but no flowers on the one I got.
