Edit: I soaked them for around 20 mins (could have left for longer) then transferred to loo rolls. Let’s hope they survive  Received hostas through the post today. They seem dried up and the roots are breaking off. Can any one advise if I should plant them directly into soil or place them in water first?

They look dead I would be devastated at receiving them like that did they come with any instructions x

I'd plant them in good compost and individual pots and give them plenty of water. and pray. pray hard.

Soak them over around 12 hours then pot them up and keep

Hostas die off completely every year. soak them and plant them. keep well watered. they may be dormant not dead

I got mine of a friend looked similar potted and came on great.
