I’m looking at doing raised flower beds around my garden, it will be 24 meters in length, I have been pricing different woods such as treated scaffolding boards and sleepers, I’m going to do them 18 inch from the ground so will be stacking them on top of each other. Even using even scaffolding boards will cost about £300. I have looked into doing it with fence boards and it will only cost me £120, I’m not putting soil all the way to the bottom just roughly 8 inches deep. Will fence boards be strong enough to do this or will I need to buy thicker wood like scaffolding boards? Thanks

What about reclaimed decking boards and stuff?

@grose I did look at getting decking boards because I do have a big decking area anyways to match that but it will cost about £330 just for the boards

Ours worked out 25 quid per metre not including topsoil which was 40 for a bulk bag. Wood is tanalised 6x2. With 4x2 at the top as coping. Iv made alsorts from pallets in the past but honestly they look cheap and dont last. Not worth the effort.

Did you get your wood online or merchants? I was looking on wickes for similar size and for a 6m border 2 boards high and spare for a table cost about 130. Thats for screws and brackets and all that jazz.

You could use breeze blocks, paint them as they are, or render them
