I have just planted a few clematis one is early sensation and the other I can’t remember. My question do I leave them on the canes or do I need trellis and untie them and spread the stems out? Any advice appreciated as Google is telling me too much conflicting advice , thanks x

I’d place trellis and let them climb onto it, a little guidance won’t hurt

Trellis and untie them. They need something to cling to if you want them to spread x

Suggest untie then either tie to netting or trellis.

Either attach a trellis to the fence or use vine eyes and wire to give them something to climb across and spread

Thank you so much for your replies, I will unite them and use vine eyes and wire as I have those  xx
