Just use location options. Forget about IP address.

@warsle my boss insisted ip address.

@archenemy706 he understands that IP address is something dynamic right?

I dont want to argue with my boss. I suggested we can go as one mile range of a location. But insisted we go per IP

@archenemy706 you will become Tom cruise if you do it this way. Lol That is the problem for boss who lead and don't understand what he is doing.

I’m not sure that’s possible. Each address will have different service and the IP will be wait to heard to track. Use geofencing with the addresses. It will target in toy those addresses not a radius. It’s the most granular you can get.

@freeboard99 yes i suggested that since we can go as small as 1 mile radius. How do you get the IP of a street address though?

@archenemy706 it's kinda illegal, if you grab someone's IP in some countries. And it's not even possible to do that because IP is dynamic address unlike Mac address. I have read your previous comments too about your boss. Dude, just tell him that it's not possible and Google do have restrictions and they do have to follow privacy policy.

@archenemy706 no you can do specific address with geofencing . it’s different than display ads that to 1 mile. You can’t get IP address of addresses becusee ip is based on the internet service provider and they will all be different.

That's stupid regarding IP addresses. What happens if the household does not have the internet.

@irvingirwin7 why would he want to target them with online ads if they don't have Internet access?

You can target IP addresses. If you have a list, there are companies who can match the addresses to an ip. Yes, dynamic ip addresses can be a challenge. However IPs usually won’t change unless there’s a reason. Once a router is assigned an IP address, it will generally maintain that IP address until a power outage or cycle. So it depends on how frequently the company updates their IP address database. The other thing to consider is that the companies who match the ip can only match a portion of them.

You can’t do this on Google.

Thanks. How do you get a company's IP address aside from connecting to their internet connection and asking what is my ip?

I guess the question is - what is the ultimate goal you are trying to achieve? May be there is a different way of doing it.
by (730 points)
@hydride the goal is to advertise to a specific list of establishments only.

If you don’t mind me asking, what is the product? To advertise to different establishments on the net, all you need is their email address (google ads - display, discovery, YouTube, facebook, LinkedIn) or company name (LinkedIn).
