Could you ladies share your experience of living in a house where the utility room is in the kitchen? In-between the kitchen and the eating area. We are concerned about the noise. By utility room I mean the nook with the furnace and whatever else goes there. Anything else that should be kept in mind? The laundry closet is on the second floor, which is not my fav either. Thank you!

I know you said laundry on the second floor was not your favorite but I think it’s the best thing ever! We moved ours from the first to second floor and it’s been a game changer. Except for some towels, 95+% of our laundry (clothes) is generated on the 2nd floor so it avoids hauling it up and down. Sorry, can’t help on other utilities.

We have our washer/dryer and furnace/water heater in closets in our kitchen. Definitely not my favorite set up. Noise isn't a problem for us. It's mostly annoying due to lack of space. One perk. I can cook dinner & fold laundry simultaneously! :)

It's only the furnace and the heater in there. The laundry room is on the second floor.

No noise complaints for us!

Our laundry is off the kitchen. In the mudroom in between the kitchen eating area and the garage. I always keep the door closed if the laundry is running because it is loud, especially when it spins. The wall of our family room shares a wall with the laundry room too. I definitely prefer it to basement laundry, but it there was not a door to close, it would drive me nuts.

Thanks. I went back to specify -- it's only the furnace and the water heater in there. The laundry closet is on the second floor. No basement at all.

I had a similar set up where the closet was in the dining area of the kitchen and it was noisy. After a while I did not notice it much

Do you mean the furnace and water heater were noisy, or the laundry machines? My concern is the furnace and water heater.

Furnace and water heater. Are you in a townhouse? Mine was and then I also had similar set up of laundry on floor above!
