I have a comforter that I wash on hot because we were told that my son is allergic to dust mites. So I washed it and all the stuffing has bunched up in little wads and it bothers me. My sister suggested I do a duvet cover instead but I always feel like the duvet slips and bunches to one side. Has anyone had any luck with a nice duvet filling that doesn’t bunch and washed well when needed? Down is really expensive, right? My husband prefers comforters to quilts.

Do you dry your comforter with tennis balls. I put 3 tenn8s balls in the dreyer and it helps prevent the inside bunching up.

@scend Rardin Stanley ^ this! It's a little noisy, but definitely helps with bunching!

@scend Rardin Stanley I do. I have wool balls. I used 3-4.

My comforter doesn't have the holes/strings for a duvet, but the duvet itself has ties inside. So I kind of bunch up the corners and tie them around the corner of the comforter and it keeps it in place

Get some dryer balls. I don't use tennis balls because I'm allergic to latex.

@couteau I have dryer balls.

And they didn't help?

@couteau no. They are nice wool ones that I put a little essential oil on for smell. We have been using them for over a year. I like them. I usually use 3-4 balls each time. But my comforter still totally has small bunches of filler all over and isn’t spread out. It feels weird.

@scend you need a lot more than 3 or 4 to have it really work on something like a comforter. I'd get like a dozen.

@marrowfat6116 I have 10. I just didn’t get them all out because my son keeps playing with them and I find them under the dresser and stuff because he throws them around. I can try using more.

IKEA sells lots of duvet covers and fillers of varying weights for cool to. hot weather. The fillers are stitched all across which helps keep the filling in place.

I’ve gotten great down comforters from ikea that last forever and ever. I also use cotton patchwork quilts for summer and they all wash well. I hate duvets but they work for our kids down comforters since they don’t use a flat sheet(think they’re too tough to make the bed).

IKEA is closed though, I tried to do a pickup order that they are advertising, but it doesn’t work

@synchronic it does work. I ordered and picked up on Saturday. It is a bit hidden on how to do it. Put everything in your basket and start the check out process. Once you put in your zip code for delivery you will see collect in store pop up and you can select the store. I ordered at a pint 10 on Friday. Igbo and picked up at 9am on Saturday. It was a smooth process.

@directoire4518 Gosh I kept trying to do pick up at bollingbrook . Called the 800 # too and recording said all stores closed. They did offer to ship though at a cost of $49. 00 for a $25. 00 pair of drapes. ☹️. I’m gonna try again though and thanks

I like quilts because you can layer them and wash a layer easily. I have 4 small kids so this is a life saver. Remove layers in the summer, add in the winter.

Grab a Norwex mattress cleaner for the dust mites as well. Dust mites live on the mattresses couches ect too. Let me know if you want more info. I have a bottle on hand.
