We've been TTC for 10 months. My cycles aren't regular. The last one was 81 days and needed progesterone to move it along. I've ovulated once in the last 6 months. I'm using the Ovusense device to track my BBT and ovulation that's how I know I've only ovulated once. Any one have experience with a doctor discussing fertility before a full 12 months?
We've been TTC for 10 months.

Second Dr. Morris.

Another vote for Dr. Morris. 15 weeks with my little guy after two harvesting cycles and one embryo transfer. (Pro tip: only see him. Do NOT see the nurse practitioner. She was rotten to me when we got our diagnosis. )

@connected congratulations! That's awful about the NP.

Just put in an appointment request!

@speos168 when we saw dr morris we hadn’t been trying for the required by insurance length of time but his office was great and advocated that based on not ovulating waiting the additional time wouldn’t have been helpful and got it covered. I assume since you are finding you aren’t ovulating you’d be exempt from the 12 month period.

@berghoff that's good to know that they will work to make it possible. I wasn't aware of it being an insurance requirement for the 12 month period until I posted this. (The more you know right? )

@speos168 neither was I when I arbitrarily wrote 6 months on the form ‍♀️. After we consulted and picked a course of treatment it was brought to my attention and I almost had a breakdown in the office. Thank goodness for amazing and educated staff knowing how to find a work around!

Yup! We went to a fertility specialist after just 3 months of trying so they’ll take you. Dr Miller is right here in Naperville.

Baby dust!

I second Dr Miller! My personal choice was that I wasn’t willing to do IVF and some endocrinologists had a problem with that but Dr Miller was great and the staff was really great too. I made me appointment around 9 months of TTC.

He doesn't accept UHC

@speos168 that I don’t know about. I would still call and ask if they do donations or anything for people not covered by insurance etc.
by (1.2k points)
I will still reach out just in case for sure.

I ‘told’ them we were trying for 12 months when it was really 9 months. They don’t have any way of checking . I used Dr Sipe for 1 child and Dr Rinehart for the other.

@speos168 I loved reproductive medicine institute and Elena Trukhacheva was the best. So kind and caring! Went to randy Morris first and it wasn’t a good fit. Didn’t even look at my chart.

Glad you found someone that was a good fit for you.

Dr. Fesenmeyer from northwestern. Very quick to take action and doesn’t make you wait and see like so many others.

You can do a fertility assessment at Fertility Centers of Illinois. It's relatively low cost and possibly free in May.

Another vote for Dr. Morris! I’m 28 weeks with #4 thanks to him! I was previously with Fertility Centers of IL, would never recommend them to anyone!

I highly recommend Dr. Wood Molo at Rush in the city!

If you prefer a more holistic route, I am seeing Dr. Lauren and Dr. Weston at rootandbloomchiropractic. com. I am going this route because the way I felt on the meds wasn't for me. I am slowly feeling better than I have my whole life here.

The right doctor may not just be one doctor either. You may find one that specializes in one thing and another in something else and when put together is the magic potion. 1. Do you’re own research. Do not depend on one diagnosis/non-diagnosis 2. DONT get discouraged. It may take a while and it may not. “Enjoy” the fight and try to make it a wonderful learning experience of all it takes to create life. 3. Be sure if you have to go down the road of IVF you choose someone close to your work/home. Bloodwork and ultrasounds are very routine and you will need to be there like clockwork. think second home. I wish you all the very best as you embark on the journey towards fighting for the miracle of life ❤️

Depending on your age, the timing is either 6mo or 12mo. At 10mo if you’re considering meeting with a reproductive endocrinologist (fertility doc) now is the best time to check with your insurance what’s covered and who you’re eligible to see. It’s also not too soon to get an appointment for a consult. With clinics reopening after being closed for months, the wait may be longer than usual.

Have your cycles ever been regular? If so, what changed?
by (1.2k points)
They used to be until I was on my IUD. At that point I didn't have a period at all. Since removing it my cycles are crazy irregular. My last one was 81 days and ended up have a dose of progesterone to move it along.
by (4.3k points)
@speos168 get in with your doctor! Also look at your diet and exercise. Are you eating enough? I under ate and over trained jacked my metabolism. Not sure if you’re in that boat. Find a RE that you like!
by (1.2k points)
I'm the opposite. I overeat and undertrain still. I'm in the process of making healthier choices. I hover at the same weight for years and years now.

@speos168 I suffered from infertility for about 8 years. Can I PM you? There are a few things I wish I had know and save myself some time and tears.
by (1.2k points)
Yes please! I would love to know more.
