Fertility mommas - what was your experience with Femara? No luck on our natural IUI recently (we were successful with one previously with my son) and doctor wants to try a round with femara, anyone experience bad effects or have a preference of that verse clomid? Wishing all you fertility mommas lots of love and baby dust especially during this hard time as I know many cycles were cancelled with Covid ❤️❤️❤️

Several rounds of ivf and iuis with clomid. Nothing worked. I have PCOS. Decided to give femera a try as a "last ditch effort" . Got preggo. Used it for every single one of my pregnancies (3 ) it's the ONLY thing that has worked for me. It's my miracle medication. Side effects I had were intense fatigue during the days I took the meds otherwise no other issues. Good luck!

@savaii good to know! I have PCOS too momma! The worst! I should PM u a pic of my acne when I’m off my meds you won’t even believe it lol the androgens w the PCOS are the worst! My cycles are crazy last month 65 day cycle so she wants to control it more w femara! Thanks for sharing ur uplifting story!

@donetta6 yes the acne is the WORST! Also I should mention I was on metformin as well as thyroid meds (I have hypothyroidism which also affects fertility) in addition to femara (so it was a combo of these med lol) but the only combo that worked!

I have PCOs so Dr. Recommended Femara over the usual one . I had no adverse reactions and it's supposed to be less harsh on your body, I didn't have any major mood swings which I know can can be a huge issue on clomid. IUIs didn't work for us. Got our 3 yr old after 3rd round implantation of an embryo from IVF

Honestly the medication will affect everyone differently. I was 39 when they started fertility shots on me and I had an adverse reaction. I did 3 iui and 2 cancelled rounds and none worked. I was one that had a rare side effect due to an untreated thyroid issue. Got pregnant at 41 naturally after being medicated for 3 months for thyroid. Best of luck! And trust your gut. If you feel something isn’t working speak up

@miquelmiquela thank you for sharing! Do you know which one you had a reaction too? My sister is 39 and has been trying for 5 years she is about to do her IVF transfer but it’s canceled for now with Covid bless her heart - I was able to switch clinics to see another doc for the IUI since it’s less involved

@donetta6 I took gonal f and follistim. And then menopur. I was allergy tested for Menopur and didn’t have a reaction but my body hated all the estrogen. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s when my tsh level was in normal range, I was at 2 turns out I needed to be closer to a 1 to get pregnant. I did everything and was 3 months from picking an egg donor. Have you and your sister had genetic testing? It is strange both of you have fertility issues. Is there a thyroid history in your family? Mine was diagnosed even after I was tested multiple times

@miquelmiquela ok so my sister is actually my stepsister so no blood relation! My issue is PCOS and my husband has low sperm count at 10 million

@donetta6 oh that makes a little more sense. Fertility is so hard. Do they have you or your hubby on supplements? I also put us on a diet of very limited gluten, no caffeine (for hubby especially), limited processed foods.

I got pregnant with my twins with one round of Clomid. I had horrible ovulation cramping from it but it worked.

I have PCOS, and a history of early losses. Our first cycle of trying with any type of assistance, we got pregnant “naturally” on our first round of Clomid. However, we ended up losing it, as that turned out to be a partial molar pregnancy. We went on to work with fertility and had a successful first round of IUI with Femara and vaginal progesterone. It was our first round. I didn’t have any really notable side effects, aside from a little cramping, that I can recall. I preferred it to Clomid. Wishing you luck and baby dust!

@changeover I’m so sorry for your losses- any pregnancy is one to be celebrated and I believe you will see them again one day in heaven! That’s so exciting the femara worked for you! Sounds like good stories on here with it!

@donetta6/activity" class="qa-user-link">donetta6 @donetta6/activity" class="qa-user-link">donetta6 Thank you! I agree, one day we’ll see then again. Meanwhile, we are so very grateful for our 2 beautiful blessings, our daughters. I forgot to mention that we also did a trigger shot with our IUI cycle, in addition to the Femara. One of my coworkers recently had success with Femara, as well. My fertility doc explained Femara as basically working similarly to Clomid with less side effects, and less chances of having multiples.

@changeover yes I did the ovidrel with the last one so I guess it wasn’t technically natural LOL but no other drugs - so I chatted w her and we agreed to try one more w just the ovidrel and if it doesn’t work again move forward with femara!

Unexplained here, and used Femara with both IUIs we did. #1 for us our 3 year old, #2 got us fraternal twins. We used femara in combination with a HCG trigger shot and progesterone supps starting a week after IUI.

Never used clomid, but only side effects I noticed from Femara were headaches and tiredness the few days I had to take it.
