If you are in an HOA community with a swimming pool, has your HOA announced whether the pool will open this season, and if so, what possible modifications may be expected?

The pools need to wait to hear from IDPH. Centennial Beach has a decent chance of opening since it’s considered open water. They should hear from IDPH next week

There will be a bunch of guidelines though

@actinomycosis says nothing for the public bathrooms and lockerooms where it actually has better chance to spread

@actinomycosis are chemicals such as chlorine added at Centennial to kill bacteria ?
by (5.6k points)
@amplitude7599 yes. It’s not required but they do
by (1.3k points)
Although chlorination may not be technically required at Centennial, there is no other viable alternative as the water must remain fresh and parasite/bacteria free, as it is a public facility. It's designation of a "beach" by the IDPH does not relieve the city of Naperville of certain "pool" water quality and safety requirements. Quote from the website: "Yes – our staff tests the water 2-3 times daily to monitor chlorine levels and pH balance. We typically follow swimming pool regulations with regard to water quality standards. On a weekly basis, our water is sampled and tested by an independent laboratory to ensure that the water quality is being maintained. "

Hobson West has announced they won’t open on time but have not canceled the entire summer as of yet.

No pools are opening. Except in someone’s yard. That’s what I heard anyways.

Ours said they are doing everything possible to open (it’s privately owned) and that they’re waiting on the IDPH as well.

South Point is taking a wait and see stance, and hoping for a June opening. and is still requiring payment for this year's dues. We'll see - we're all in a tough spot given the lack of specific guidance from the state.

People plz don't rely on the biased and personal opinion of another. Make your own decisions that you are comfortable with. There is no single remedy that works for everyone.
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 the single remedy is risk vs reward. Don’t take unnecessary risks if you are unsure about things. As they used to say to me, “do what your rank can handle” I like to be safe and washing your hands is common sense anyways is supposed to be do. It was obvious this thing was spreading differently long ago.
by (1.3k points)
@valene4 Washing hands works better than anything. Especially in public restrooms!
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 yea for everything else you know how many Virions it takes to infect, 1000. Do you know infectious dose is for norovirus is Do you know the difference between this enveloped virus and non-enveloped? Washing hands is just common sense nothing out of norm. Should be done anyways
by (1.3k points)
@valene4 I try to stay away from !
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 12, yes and alcohol based sanitizers can’t inactivate it. That’s why it spreads fast
by (1.3k points)
@valene4 and public pools. Or “beaches”. Including centennial.
by (5.5k points)
It too is aerosolized in bathrooms but whoever smells either of the these things just got dealt. Bottom line. It just takes a little longer with this and you can’t really smell it but you get the drift
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 yea I don’t even think chlorine you are probably correct
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 that is of course not taking into account aerosolized fecal matter and diarrhea plumes that did spread SARS in Hong Kong but we will save that for another day
by (1.3k points)
@valene4 well when you smell a fart.
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 you got it, it may be too late in this instance but not yet confirmed. I would move away anyways but yea bathrooms could be a major vector it appears Big upgrades might be needed there fast. Maybe own pods with own ventilation systems who knows
by (1.3k points)
@valene4 Practicality will come into play eventually. We will never be able to protect everyone from everything.
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 yea but don’t underestimate places like Vegas. Those casinos  have some of the best air systems in the world. They had plenty of foreign travelers in that timeframe who like to gamble. They would’ve been slammed in those places on surfaces alone one would think so that’s when I dismissed fomites. What do we know? Leaving it for the lab coats to test in a vacuum has gotten us here. We all have to use common sense
by (1.3k points)
@valene4 Been there. Still not always the cleanest. And lots of dirty people and hands
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 yes which is why if it was spread that way there would be plenty more cases. Thanks for validating it somewhat
by (1.3k points)
@valene4 people gotta just keep hands out of their mouths, noses, eyes, etc. If you can stick your elbows in it, then your hands are ok.
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 washing hands is basic hygiene
by (1.3k points)
@valene4 yep
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 ok so that should be done regardless of COVID-19 right?
by (5.5k points)
So would it be your guess more or less people are washing hands now?
by (5.5k points)
Because if it’s more and you would probably be correct and people are merely washing the same way they’ve always been. Why is it spreading more? If it’s that viable on surfaces than how come Amazon or groceries are not giving it to me? Am I perfect?
by (1.3k points)
@valene4 you’d think. I’m afraid to imagine the number of people who don’t, or didn’t, do that basic part of hygiene up until several months ago. Scary.
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 so you are saying hygiene has gone down now? People may be washing less?
by (1.3k points)
@valene4 I can only hope that this has been a real wake up call.
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 only two possibilities less it’s super viable on surfaces and and we all are going to get it. or it’s spread in air like they admitted today
by (1.3k points)
@valene4 whaaaat? Heck no.
by (5.5k points)
@collocutor1795 they finally admitted they knew it would reduce transmission by up to 60% wearing simple masks but it was an honest noble lie to save resources for healthcare. Please stay with us
