Eye twitches .  My left eyelid has been on/off twitching for the past week or two.Eye twitches . My left eyelid has been on/off twitching for the past week or two. I am going to the doctor tomorrow and plan on asking about it, but curious if any of you have experienced it for this long and why? I’m thinking stress related, but not 100% sure. It’s so annoying! Eta- it is sometimes in my right eye and both eyebrows.

Yes it is so annoying! I would guess stress or if you’ve had higher caffeine lately. It should go away in a few days. Try not to focus on it as much as you can.

Eat a banana. Could be an old wives’ tale but that’s what I was told. Something about needing potassium. Might be worth a try. ‍♀️

I’m literally going through the same thing right now! I have never had a twitch last this long. I don’t feel stressed and have been drinking a ton of water. I’m hoping it will go away soon

In my family it means stress. But adding water and eating better can't hurt.

I had it for a month or more awhile back and some one mentioned about needing more potassium? I tried eating some fruits/veggies with more potassium in them. Bananas are good. Can't hurt. It eventually went away. But I looked it up causes - alcohol intake, stress, fatigue, bright light, and possible eye irritation.

Mine do that when I’m stressed. A few years ago I was having a bout of it and happened to be at the eye doctor for a checkup and mentioned it. I was surprised how seriously she took it! She said it’s one way the body handles stress. Sure enough once life calmed down the twitching went away.

Magnesium deficiency maybe. Usually at the end of the winter I do a cure of magnesium. People who are stressed, exercises or/and don’t sleep enough burn a lot of it.

@orthognathous9 agree. Probably a combination of this, magnesium, and stress. But, having doctor verify not nerve related is a smart move.

@muleteer803 . yep. Never rely on FB for your medical advice.
by (1.5k points)
@orthognathous9 definitely not relying solely on this page for medical advice. I have an apt tomorrow anyways and have had recent mris/cat scans of my brain, spine, and neck

I have. I was told that excessive strain on my eyes coupled with a lack of sleep did it. I started sleeping longer and that was it.
