My husband and myself did! Emediate Cure in Joliet. It’s a finger prick and results in about 15 min. My husband tested positive, I tested negative.

@cannae3 do you have to call And make an appointment?
by (7.6k points)
@humbertohumble7967 I’m not sure if you can call, but you can make them online. That’s what we did.
by (380 points)
@cannae3 great thank you! That is so strange he tested positive and you didn’t.

@cannae3 how much was it?
by (3.8k points)
@cannae3 I tried to book it online. not available at Joliet location. Which one did you go to?

@cannae3 that’s not bad. You didn’t need a referral at script from the dr?

What does positive mean?
by (7.6k points)
@humbertohumble7967 isn’t it! I was surprised. He went mainly out of curiosity- he had been sick for 2 weeks in November, which seems a bit far back for it to have been Covid. But I suppose you never know. He was sick again mid January for a few days but that was more like a typical cold. So maybe then? Maybe he never had symptoms and had it in February or March? I had Flu A in February but never sick otherwise.
by (7.6k points)
@selfreliance the Joliet. I made mine 2 weeks out so they may just not have any available right now. Tests are based on availability of what they have.

@cannae3 Gotcha. Thanks for the info!
by (7.6k points)
@chinkapin475 nope! Though I think you can get a referral from your doctor to other places, like Quest laboratories.
by (7.6k points)
@phlox8142 that he had the virus. They also test if you currently show the virus or recently had it in your system(like within the last 10-14 days)
by (7.6k points)
@selfreliance no problem! Maybe just keep checking back. The Shorewood location was testing if you currently believe you have it and are showing symptoms.

@cannae3 feeling healthy myself (Thank God! ). Asking for a friend. Thanks so much for the info!

@cannae3 did either of you ever get flu shots? Curious.
by (1.6k points)
@deepsix i heard if u had flu shots u would maybe rest positive for it
by (720 points)
@caernarvonshire3 I was just curious if one of you had and the other not, if that was a difference
by (1.6k points)
@deepsix it’s not me that took test
by (510 points)
@selfreliance Joliet location does them. Check in the morning. They put up new dates.
by (7.6k points)
@deepsix my husband did, I did not.
by (7.6k points)
@caernarvonshire3 i was curious about this too! My husband had a flu shot and tested positive, I did not have a flu shot and tested negative
by (510 points)
@cannae3 I didn’t have a flu shot either.
by (720 points)
@cannae3 this is the case for others as well. Interesting.
by (7.6k points)
@deepsix hmmm. How interesting! Now I’ll be curious to see if more info is found related to that. I’m having my husband ask a few other people he knows who got tested if they had a flu shot
by (510 points)
@cannae3 a friend of mine took the test too and tested positive and had a flu shot.

@barbarossa1 Anne negative for the virus or the antibody test? The antibody tests (especially the quick result ones) are not very accurate yet. I’m waiting until they figure them out a little more to do it.
by (2.5k points)
@abell he tested negative for the virus. It is not true that if you got a flu shot you will test positive for the virus.
by (1.9k points)
@barbarossa1 Anne Some people think of you got a flu shot, you may test positive for the antibodies, not the virus. But like I said, the antibody test is just not that reliable yet.
by (2.5k points)
@abell I haven’t heard that about the antibody test, but I was seeing posts floating around stating that if you got a flu shot you would test positive for the virus. So much misinformation out there.

I got tested through Dr. Turk's office in Plainfield. It was a blood draw, which should be more accurate. I scheduled through her office, she did a phone "office visit", then the phlebotomist came to my house.
by (3.8k points)
@meagher wow. What did test show?
by (1.7k points)
@meagher how much was that?
by (650 points)
@selfreliance I just had the draw Thursday, so haven't received results yet, but I should any day. I should add that I don't think that we can truly rely on the accuracy of these tests, nor do I feel we should change our behavior based on the results. Even if the result was dependable, there is no evidence yet that we can't be reinfected or that we won't be an infectious carrier. I'm in healthcare and I just wanted to see what the results were.
by (650 points)
@chinkapin475 they said that insurance has been covering the test and there is just a $50 out of pocket charge for the phlebotomist coming to your house. I asked them what the cost is in case my insurance denies it and they said it is $130 out of pocket (not including the $50).

@meagher totally agree with all you said —- STAY HEALTHY

I got the blood draw just a few days ago and got the results back the following day. I was negative. Kind of surprised because I thought maybe in February I had it so I guess not . Just a cold or other virus I guess.
