I have a client at an office, (he is the owner of the building) with an address, there are multiple businesses working out of that office, his citations contain the main address, so do the other offices citations. Another company in the same building is interested in SEO. Should I leave the original client's address as is on existing and new citations and create a "Suite #" for the new client, or FIX citations for the first client to include a suite number as well, and then go ahead with new suite numbers for both?

I would leave the first client's address alone and then add a Suite # to the new client. After all, the building itself is one single address. It's not like a strip mall where each spot has it's own mailing address.

You don’t need to change anything or add a suite number. Lots of businesses share addresses. As long as they have a different name, phone number, and website they will be fine.

Fine for SEO, but it can be a problem for registering for state or federal government business, where a very specific address (suite number) is sometimes required.

@wien2 They are already an established business, so that wouldn't be an issue.

@boatload . only if they have registered with the sam. gov already. I've been through this and it caused some unneeded pain.

@wien2 I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you meant registering as a business with the government. Incorporating, setting up an LLC, etc. You are talking about doing actual business with government agencies. Got it. That is not really something for an SEO to worry about though.

@boatload beat me to it. My office is in the same situation. Lots of offices/businesses, one addresses. As long as 2 of the 3 - Name, Address, Phone - are different, Google is good. That's how they handle miltiole business locations (same name) and shared space (same address).

I can only speak from one experience, but I had a client that wanted a new business so we created a suite# for them on top of their existing location (e. g., original address was "8th floor" then the new one was "suite 814". It's a legit one too, they did whatever was needed to verify with USPS etc. New site ranked amazing well and still does years later.
