Ok as I now have decided to leave Siteground before they change me over to their new Panel, which will make it hard for me to do a Cpanel to Cpanel transfer. I knew it may eventually cause issues with other hosting companies as well. I had decided to transfer to Name Hero for their VPS Hosting, but the tech just told me their prices are going to eventually increase because of the Cpanel situation. He also stated normally there is no limit on their storage, but now he doesn't know. I am trying not to go to Inmotion. I hear too many bad and good reviews about A2. And i just read a bad review about Liquid Hosting changing since they sold out. i just want a VPS plan that won't have price hikes due to this situation and speed matters to me. Who do you all recommend?

You should be able to lease a dedicated server for under $100/month. Is that too expensive? Cpanel license will add a bit more.
by (3.9k points)
Yeah too expensive at the moment. I only have 7 websites so a whole server is too much.
by (21.6k points)
From what I understand, every Web host is struggling to accmomodate customers who are used to Cpanel.
by (3.9k points)
@narcotize ah man
by (21.6k points)
@chew446 We get enough traffic/generate enough revenue that we just ate the fee increase for the license. Hopefully you'll get there.
by (3.9k points)
@narcotize Yea hopefully.

What's the reason for leaving Siteground?
by (3.9k points)
I don't like this new Custom Panel they have. I am not going to get stuck there with them with a Panel I don't like. I need Cpanel.

WP engine is pretty good.
by (3.9k points)
I am looking them up now.
by (200 points)
@chew446 WP engine is good but they don't host emails so you would need to have that hosted elsewhere. I have seen websites (mine included) improve with load times when moving from siteground to WP engine.
by (3.8k points)
I’m very happy with WP engine.
by (3.9k points)
@generate Thank Lexia! So it looks like WP Engine is on my list.

@kenning Nice! Thank you Noah.

Siteground VPS starts at $80/mo. If you have 7 sites that's about $11. 50 per site. What's it going to cost you in man hours to move everything? How much is reliable hosting worth?
by (3.9k points)
They are all on the same Cpanel, so it's Cpanel to Cpanel. No I am leaving Siteground because they will eventually transfer all their existing customers to their own custom panel. And I am trying to leave before it happens.
by (2.4k points)
@chew446 You really should look at moving sites to their own Cpanels. Helps to limits exposure if one site gets hacked.
by (3.9k points)
@narcotize Gillispie I didn't think about that. so a Vpn may be best.
by (2.4k points)
VPS yes. Or a small dedicated. Depending on your traffic or expected traffic.
by (4.2k points)
Oh wow. Yeah, there is no way I would ever run sites on the same cPanel. That's just asking for problems - eggs, one basket and all that.

I use namecheap still has cpanel

I’m not seeing any new Cpanel, did I miss anything?
by (3.9k points)
All the new accounts already come with them. But existing accounts will all be eventually migrated in 3 to 4 months.
by (1k points)
@chew446 new one isn’t easy to use or they are asking for more price?
by (3.9k points)
@impolitic No the price is still the same but it is very confusing, some features are missing and not easy to use.

I’ve been with A2 for a couple years and have never had an issue.
by (3.9k points)
Someone posted their Twitter recently showing all the downtime they have.
by (240 points)
I have A2 and have no problems. Never had downti. e issues. Speed is good. No complaints here about A2

I like Cloudways, but they don't have cpanel. What cpanel features do you require?
by (3.9k points)
All of them because it is easy for me because I am use to them.

I too use namecheap. Great support, good price.
by (3.9k points)
Noooooooo bad experience
by (2.7k points)
@chew446 Really? I've been with them for 2 plus years.
by (3.9k points)
@lazarus I had a Reseller Hosting plan with them and it was awful. I had problems installing WordPress themes because of the limited memory allowed. m
by (2.7k points)
@chew446 i have had a few issues but not that. well I hope you are able to find the right company to fit your needs my Sister. Blessings to you.

DigitalOcean  VPS server starts from $5/mo and can configure it to setup multiple sites. I recommend 3 WP sites on 1 droplet max.

Cpanel licencing has gone through the roof I'm seriously thinking of changing
by (3.9k points)
@whitsunday I am seeing
by (9.2k points)
@chew446 I used to be able to get a license for $14 USD p mth now it's upwards of $70
by (3.9k points)
@whitsunday Nah I don't need a license. I just need a hosting plan with Cpanel. Dang that's crazy though. Your cost went up like 5 times smh.
by (9.2k points)
@chew446 yep and we are running 90 something instances for our web hosting service. So we are at a fork in the road whether we go full budget os, but high speed hardware or continue with cpanel or spilt up the offerings
by (3.9k points)
@whitsunday So this is bigger than I thought.
by (9.2k points)
@chew446 margins are tight so cpanel might get priced out

You can buy digital ocean $5 droplet and install plesk which is another cpanel like app created by the cpanel makers. The free version of plesk allows 3 sites only. Otherwise you can install Vestacp. Cpanel will make every hosting expensive and some of them ask for unbelievable prices. I'm using hosting from Digital Ocean, Namecheap and a2. And so far DO is best but completely technical though.
by (3.9k points)
@criseyde I looked at Ocean Hosting and that interface looks like foreign language to me lol
by (1.7k points)
You can go with Cloudways and use Digital Ocean's servers. They charge you an up charge compared to straight up using the Digital Ocean; but, it is less technical in setup. Then, follow what @criseyde said if you have to have CPANEL. You won't regret the advantages of their cloud servers.

Can I ask why you’re staying away from inmotion? We currently use them and they have cpanel.
by (3.9k points)
@barmecide The reviews are horrible. Plus I had a Reseller Plan with them a few years ago. The servers were down for a few minutes here and there constantly. I had to leave.
by (470 points)
I’ve had pretty good experiences with them the last two years (two separate accounts, shared hosting, 6 sites total) Only had the server down a few minutes issue once and they just told me about it, I didn’t actually see it affect the site. (I wasn’t a fan when they told me, believe me. ) I do have a short list of names to stay away from in chat/ but usually they’re super helpful.  There’s a comparison list of a whole bunch- I’d love to know which one you go with, never hurts to have a back pocket of choices

VPS with CPanel license you bought yourself is the sure way of protecting your setup. Although it is not clear if you have skills and time to manage it yourself. Besides CPanel it's worth getting Imunify360 to protect the host from threats. So you are looking at 20-40 USD for VPS, 30 USD for CPanel license and a bit more for backups and security. Total bill of about 100-150 USD per month. P. s. cheap dedicated servers are usually old hardware and/or come with horrible fees for stepping outside of their fair terms of use policy. DigitalOcean and Vultr are two solid providers of VPS that can meet your requirements.
by (3.9k points)
@euphemie2 I woud get a Manage VPS vs unmanaged. I don't have time to manage. No I am looking for a hosting company, a great one who will be keeping Cpanel.

Find a small hosting providers that will value your business and can make a good deal. If you pay 70 USD per month and don't cause trouble, it should leave a few dollars for them to make as profit. I have small hosting business, but it's for Europe only and I use Plesk.

Don't cause trouble lol at the hosting company. How do people cause trouble?
by (3k points)
@chew446 don't use secure passwords and get their websites infected, delete tables in the database accidently and ask for restore from backup, suffer from incompatibility between plugins, PHP versions, etc and call customer helpline. Handling a support ticket is like 30-50 USD. It wipes out any profits a hoster is making.
by (3.9k points)
@euphemie2 Well back in 2014 when I built my first site, yes I was the one calling Web Hosting Hub every 5 mins for broken sites, help, everything lol. Fast forward to the end of 2016, I set up my digital marketing company with the knowledge I learned from them. I make YouTube videos helping others on how to fix certain issues, WordPress-related. I can't thank them enough, . My causing trouble with them helped me learn enough to follow my dreams. But I never been hacked. Wordfence protects me with that. But anytime I have a problem I can't fix, I am calling. Tech get paid to answer support questions like I use to when I worked in IT yeeeaaaarrrs ago. It's our job.

You could do a VPS with Virtualmin. I've done this for years.
by (3.9k points)
@nutation844 Is it managed?
by (970 points)
@chew446 Mine isn't. But if you go with a managed VPN provider it can be. You could also look at Cloudways. They control the server but you can make as many sites as you want through their control panel. And they have a migrator plugin for WordPress.
by (3.9k points)
@nutation844 Yea I tried to study it last night. It looks strange lol.
by (970 points)
@chew446 Just know that they manage the server and you set up apps (websites) when you need them. But that VPS is yours and you're only sharing resources with yourself. They take over the system management, security, etc.
by (3.9k points)
@nutation844 Well I am going to try to add it tonight. I am just not use to send stuff saying applications.

Sadly I just got an email from Name Hero. The sales person stated I will have to pay $10 a month if I want Cpanel because now it's license-based, but I won't see the cost until the end of the sign up process. I think this should actually be displayed on their site but it's not smh.

Knownhost. We have great experience with inmotion
by (1.1k points)
@chew446 yup. 2-3 years. Used to have 2 accounts, now using only 1. Service is good. No complaint
by (3.9k points)
@killiecrankie Hummmmn, I been thinking about their VPS and Reseller but because I don't hear many people talking about them, I been afraid to trust my sites there.
by (1.1k points)
@chew446 maybe they don't offer a good affiliate commission. Lol. Try the smallest package and grow from there and always have your own backup. I offer multilocation hosting service and one of the server is with namehero. Let me know if you want to test it out.
by (3.9k points)
@killiecrankie Right, Yes if please test it out.
