What do you use for security cameras? I currently have a generic eBay NVR that’s was working fine. Hopefully just a bad hard drive. Has anyone used Amcrest?

I have a Amcrest NVR, 3 Armcrest cameras with no issues other than IP address changing on the cameras which was my fault. I now use Blue Iris for Amcrest and Wyze cameras and still run the Amcrest NVR.

Right now im using wyze cams with RTSP firmware and blue iris or iSpy. the wyze to BI combo is super flaky, so im tinkering with iSpy. Seems to be better, but still not 100% stable. before we moved, i was using blue iris with 1 Amcrest and 5 ReoLink PoE cameras and it was rock solid. Eventually when i have time to pull cable, ill get back to a setup like that, but the wyze cams are decent enough for me for now.

Amcrest Cameras and NVR units, over 1, 000 installed the last 36 months. One camera failed after 18 months. Those numbers should give you an idea.

@scone50 can you connect other onvif cameras to the Amcrest NVR?

@debrief Works with some, but not others, so it's a crap shoot. I have a couple of Tenvis that worked with Onvif, and a few Tenvis that did not, so replaced them with Amcrest. Hvae a couple Hikvisions that are working well.

I've been using Zoneminder and it works with standard ethernet cameras and a Raspberry Pi with a webcam running Motion.

I'm using a Buffalo Terastation running XigmaNAS, SMB share. I have a handful of Axis cameras doing motion activated recording. It was a bit goofy to get set up, but works flawlessly to record, view on PCs, or tablets.
