Which hub do you have specifically?
by (410 points)
@broom this one
by (12.9k points)
@ipecac88 That's a V2 hub which doesn't even have wifi.
by (410 points)
@unclothe1851 okay. so how do I update it? Everything is offline
by (12.9k points)
@ipecac88 Is it plugged in to an ethernet cable?
by (410 points)
@unclothe1851 I just checked. No, I got a new modem/router and it wasn't connected. Let me hook it up. Thanks.
by (410 points)
@unclothe1851 okay so now it shows the hub is online but not the rest. I just installed new batteries on both doors sensors
by (12.9k points)
@ipecac88 How long was the hub offline? If the devices were without batteries for a long time they may need to be reset & repaired.

@unclothe1851 like a year. I just installed new batteries on both doors. How can I reset it?

@ipecac88 each device is different so have to look it up.

If your haven’t used it in over a year, all the batteries in the sensors are probably dead
by (410 points)
@disencumber yes, I just received news ones and changed them twenty mins ago

Change all battery devices, reset the hub (small pin in the back), re-enter the code found in your box. Start all over.

@edelsten thank you so much!

No worries!

I don't think you need to update or set the wifi network IIRC. Do you have anything that's not battery operated in your devices? Most/all of your battery operated devices may be dead after a year.
by (410 points)
@hague I just got new batteries that I ordered on Amazon but from what I remember only the two door sensors need it. Not the lights or the outlets. I'm gonna reset it to see if that works
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 yeah that's probably your best bet, just keep in mind that if it starts you back at square one, you will need to unpair any z-wave devices you have before pairing again. Zigbee devices I'm not 100% sure of.
by (410 points)
@hague I only have what was included with the hub. I do have the Harmony hub but I don't think those two are connected
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 sorry but I'm not familiar with whatever package you must have bought - my hub came by itself. My guess is they would be zigbee devices if it was a Samsung bundle.
by (410 points)
@hague the weird thing is that the hub shows is online and the backdoor sensor is working normally. I opened the door and it shows open. But not the front door.
by (410 points)
@hague I meant to post this one
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 a lot of people have experienced this with the new app. Do you also have the old app?
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 the new app has a snowflake looking icon and the old app is a circle
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 I would try looking in there before you reset everything and potentially create a lot of work for yourself
by (410 points)
@hague I have the snowflake app. New iPhone
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 can you download the old one? Not sure if that's possible on iPhone
by (410 points)
@hague let me try. Hold.
by (410 points)
@hague yes! I was able to! Let me see what it says there. Is there something I should do?
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 just sign in and see if your devices are reporting correctly in there. A lot of people have had issues with devices not reporting in the new app
by (410 points)
@hague it shows the same thing lol. The hub is online, the back door is online and closed the rest are unavailable
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 do you happen to have more info on what the devices are? Model numbers preferably?
by (410 points)
@hague the door sensor(2 of them) not sure where to get the model number. They came with the hub as a package
by (410 points)
@hague smart outlet
by (410 points)
@hague and the lights both for the kitchen and the front door are from this pack
by (15k points)
For the lights, do you also have a hue hub?
by (410 points)
@hague I do, it's this one.
by (410 points)
@hague okay, both batteries are brand new and at 100% I'm. off to read what you posted. Be right back.
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 okay I'm not a hue user but do you have their app? I would check in there and if they are reporting/working there, I would set up the integration again as that's likely your problem. If they're not working in hue, they're not going to work in ST so you'd want to troubleshoot in hue in that case.
by (410 points)
@hague I do not have the app. I will download and read. Thanks!
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 no problem - someone else in the group who has used hue is probably a better resource to help you here - I'm just telling you what I would do based on my limited knowledge of it.
by (410 points)
@hague I appreciate the hell out of you
by (410 points)
@hague there were three updates for it! Hopefully that's it lol
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 happy to help - most of the knowledge I have comes from other helpful people here
by (410 points)
@hague thanks for not being a dick lol. I got face palm and eye rolling. Lol
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 you caught me on a good day I guess
by (410 points)
@hague yay! Everything works except the front door sensor. I will reset it. But I'm soooooooo excited about the lights working!
by (410 points)
@hague okay so I couldn't get the door sensor to work even though the light would blink every time I opened the door. So I removed it and I scanned for it and renamed it and it's working now! Thank you so very much!
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 nice! Now you can set up some automations
by (410 points)
@hague siiiiiiiiiiii. I also connected the Harmony hub! Yay me!
by (15k points)
@ipecac88 you're rolling now!
by (1.3k points)
This might be obvious, but the kitchen lights are actually turned on at the switch right? Otherwise they can't connect.

Next week we will update the Smarthings skills, status update and all sensors will be added too. If someone has interest to test and have new version before, you can send a message here and our developer Боряна Василева will contact him or her.
The SmartThings Group is where you can always find questions, answers, advice, reviews & recommendations from other community members about home automation with the Samsung SmartThings hub.
