As many of us purchase products for our Smartthings platform, we find lots of products that are Chinese made. How many of you have felt the effects of the Coronavirus outbreak as it relates to product availability and shipping? I’m posting this because of my own research about a package I’ve been waiting for awhile. Many of us may or may not understand the impact this virus has had on the global economy and Chinese products. Here are a few things I have discovered that I didn’t know I would like to share. Factories in China have closed and products are no longer being made. Shipping has been delayed for up to 14 days to most countries because they are trying to either disinfect outgoing parcels, or allow them to sit and wait for virus to die should they be contaminated. Amazon and EBay has sent notice to all sellers who sell Chinese products to put their accounts in Vacation mode as products may not be available for some time. Since manufacturing has haulted in China, the global markets of Oil and LP gas has been affected and prices are falling due to China’s decreased demand. I’m assuming that’s part of why I paid only $2. 13 a gallon for gas yesterday. It has also had impact on ships and ports, and the stock market. I think I seen it had dropped nearly 600pts one day last week in relate to this. I never realized all this could happen due to a virus outbreak. I hope you all stay well, and nobody suffers here like they are in China.

I'm seeing it too even with products not directly shipped from China. I've even stopped ordering on Aliexpress and gearbest and such, but I see that even Amazon is limiting the amount you can order for items it has in stock, anticipating outages I guess

@manichaeism that would be good except most SmartThings branded products are also made in China. So what’s the difference? What smart home products aren’t made in China? Enlighten me? Also I don’t recall in the original post saying what I was waiting for was even an Smart-home product. China sells many electronic/hobby products you cant buy locally in the U. S. A. Why would you call that being cheap? You obviously don’t use coupons and like to pay full price for things? My choice for buying specific products is not about being cheap.
