Bought 3 units a month ago and so far so good. They are directly connected to my Smartthings Hub and they are still connected since day 1. The temperature and humidity result are not very precise but ok for my need. You can probably find better price than Amazon.

@trueblood6 how are you using them? What you mean they are not precise?
by (1k points)
@linzy When I received the 3 units I did a side by side test with my ecobee thermostat. None of them had the same reading for the temperature and humidity. The units had +- 1 to 1. 5 degree difference and none of them had the same reading and same for the humidity but can't remember what the difference was between the units and ecobee. I use them to capture the temperature inside the attic and compare with outside. It doesn't need to be that precise. As it stand now the 3 unit are about 15 feet apart and here the current reading; Unit 1 is at -9 celsius with 32% humidity, unit 2 is at -6. 1 with 46 % humidity and unit 3 is at -5. 2 with 73% humidity. This is a good exemple of the difference between the units as I don't think there such a difference in real life.

I did for a while, then they all dropped and wouldn't stay reconnect. They also need to be directly connected to the hub so you have a limited number that will work.

I have used them. Not very dependable. Frequently drop off

Same experience here, dropping off frequently and a pain to reconnect. Not worth it in my view, I’m looking for alternatives.

Since a few days, one of my two aqara humidity/temperatur sensors dropped the connection. Trying to re-connect, it shows only as a "Thing" within Smartthings (both apps). With no information whatsoever. The other one works just fine since a few weeks now.

I bought 4, could never keep more than 1 at a time connected for an extended period.

I have 6, they stay connected 98% of the time, but like every battery powered device, after you figure what it's repeating thru, and keep that device stable. I have battery backup throughout my home for that reason and to not be in the dark during an outage. They work great for me. And they were like 6. 99 on Ali Express.

That generation of Aqara products are a bit non-standard which means they aren't as good at recovering from disconnection as they could be and they don't work with most Zigbee repeaters and so you have to think about your mesh a bit more. They do work with IKEA Tradfri though so as that is all I use apart from the Aqara range I find they are pretty solid. You need to install a custom device handler for them.

They work well but you've got to have a strong zigbee network, otherwise they won't stay connected.

Yes, pretty good, I use one far from the hub and it's very stable and reliable.

@bishopric162 pretty good? Like they don’t work sometimes?
by (1.6k points)
@linzy no they work all the time, I think the temperature is a bit off but you can adjust it and I didn't because I use it for humidity

Dropped off after a day, went with Centralite 3300 Temp and Humidity which are rock solid and local

@dryfoos23 do you mean the 3310? The 3300 is a door sensor

I have 6 of them. Love-em. They are a bit picky, but once you’ve found the right places and repeaters they are awesome. The square aquara version seem to be much more ST friendly the the round ones, IMO.

@hokkaido also these work through repeaters? Good to know as most Aqara/xiaomi don't
by (8.7k points)
@sammy the xiaomi work rather well with repeaters like peanut plugs, ST outlets v1 & v2, Sylvania smart + bulbs, cree bulbs, and also cc2531’s. Ive been testing them for over a year now through zigbee mapping with xbee. Ive been testing the aquara contact and temp sensors. In conversation with @hinder Manley, who is in this group and also a zigbee engineer at ST, he recommended the newer version of the ST outlets. They do work really nice. I also found since the v3 hub is zigbee stack 3, it seems to be more Xiaomi friendly vs v1 & v2 hub which is not. The Xiaomi are V3 zigbee but don’t totally comply with the standard. They are too sleepy. The round version of the temp Sensor or the “Mi” version seems a bit more finicky about staying connected. I do have a couple of Aqara contact sensors over 100 ft outside from my V3 hub and have remained connected for almost a year now. They are directly connected to hub without repeater. In all I have about 25 Xiaomi devices, leak, contact and temp. I have not had any drop out since last summer. I have over 100 devices, 20+ of them are repeaters of some sort.

@corinecorinna this is where I ended with anything aquara I have. They all fall off too often.

I got one last week. It’s brilliant. Hasn’t missed a beat. For such a small device it’s amazing.

I've had no problem with them, or the device handler. Battery still good after 18 months

Do we need to create a device handler for this botton or we can copy and paste from somewhere?
by (10.2k points)
There is one, check the ST community web page for a link to it.
