Hello.  New to the group.Hello. New to the group. Moved to SmartThings v3 a couple years back when Iris folded. Have amassed a number of smart devices such as outlets, light switches, thermostats, various sensors, etc. Most recently we just installed Samsung dishwasher, “smart” range and “smart” washer/dryer. The oven/range and washer/dryer are “smart” but getting these connected to SmartThings has been challenging. I was able to get the range connected to SmartThings but you have to physically have to enable “smart control” on the range to enable remote usage. After any usage, “smart control” shuts off. I suspect this is a safety feature but this is limiting. A perfect use case is when we’re out and about and want to pickup a take-and-bake pizza then head home, we would like to remotely preheat oven, but if we never enabled “smart control” that won’t work. I still have to work on getting washer and dryer linked up to SmartThings so I can see their capabilities, but after some reading of others experiences, it seems that these have the same limitation in that “smart control” must be enabled before remote functionality can take place. I have a zwave smart switch that through the SmartThings api I was able to toggle on and off via curl command which allows me to monitor for a trigger (day an issue with device connected to smart outlet) and when trigger sensed, a script gets run to restart that smart outlet. An idea I have is seeing if I am able to toggle “smart control” on these appliances via ST API. If so, I can schedule a cron job to run every ~5 minutes to ensure “smart control” is always enabled. Another idea I have is to setup a Prometheus monitor and pull in all metrics from devices for analysis and historical trending. Anyone else have any Samsung “smart” appliances? Anyone have any luck with having “smart control” remain enabled without ever shutting off? I’m interested in others experiences. Thanks in advance.

Smart Appliances are not that smart. It's just a marketing gimmick to raise the price $500-$1000
