I just replaced a light fixture in my son's room with a fixture that has 4 LED modules inside of it. Unfortunately, anything over 20 percent on the dimmer is full output on the lights. Is there anything I can do to adjust this so that I can take advantage of more steps?

You need LED bulbs that are designed for dimming.

This fixture does say it is dimmable

But are the LED bulbs listed as being dimmable? There are a variety of LED bulbs out there. Not all are dimmable.

@halfbeak there are no "bulbs" per say. The LED modules are integrated to the fixture. If they ever burn out, I'll have to replace the whole fixture or somehow find the replacement module.

@jimjimdandy Ah. K. I'd say the fixture is either defective or its description is a bit misleading then. Myself, I've always opted for fixtures that are independent of their bulbs. That way I know which portion to blame and/or replace.

@jimjimdandy Would you be able to disassemble and check the pot itself and possibly replace it? It could be that the dimming range is also extremely limited for the existing pot.

Compatibility varies amongst brands and even models. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for (i. e. cheap = limited compatibility and/or mediocre light quality). Personally, I now seek LEDs that advertise “warm dim” capability or even “warm glow effect” ideally color-corrected. Not only are they just better, but they tend to be more widely compatible and not flicker.

Stop blaming the light fixture and take a look at the dimmer! Is it supposed to be able to dim LED fixtures?

@dye I supposed I should do some research on that. I have the same dimmer in every other bedroom in the house and they all dim other LEDs just fine. I think my son's room was the last one left that I hadn't changed over.

@jimjimdandy Some dimmers have the capability to adjust the maximum dim and brightness.
