Looking at switching to smartthings (formerly Wink  ). In Canada the v3 is 99 and v2 is 75. Need to but 2 hubs. Is the 3 worth it over the 2? Thanks!

2 is better than the 3, imo

Not in any noticeable way. Some specs are better (cpu/ram) but so far there is no evidence that it makes any difference in actual usage. V3 has wifi and zigbee 3. 0. Those specs *do* make a difference. I have V2 in one house and V3 in another, for what it's worth.

The simplest aspect, for me, is purchasing an older gen device puts it at a greater risk of obsolescence. For instance in the not so distant past Phillips pulled the plug on their Gen1 Hue hub just because they felt like it. Now I’m not saying that’s apt to happen with ST but the odds of the rug being pulled out from under the V2 is much higher than the V3 simply because if they’re going to nuke something logic dictates it will always be the older model prior to the newer one.
