I have decided to set up smaller goals for my weight loss. Maybe it will keep me from getting discouraged. Does anyone else do this?

I focus a lot on off scale victories. Anywhere from my clothes fitting better, not getting exhausted going up stairs, stopping eating when full, playing at the park with my kids and not getting tired etc.

I’ve been thinking of doing this, 10lbs at a time

My first goal was to get out of “obese”. Now it’s to weigh what my DL has said for 25 years. Next, to get to the “healthy” weight range, which is the top of my Lifetime range.

Yes! Smaller goal make faster results! I kept setting too high of expectations for myself which kept leading me to fail! Slow and steady wins the race!

Absolutely! If I loose 1/2 pound, per week or 1/4. that is better than gaining. Also, it means I am learning to eat appropriately. #walkoflife

Yes. Small attainable goals was a recent topic for the weekly workshop. I highly recommend the workshops. You gain a lot.

Absolutely! Reward yourself with a manicure, a new book, a movie, a new top. It will help you, I promise.

Oh yes. Small losses ALL add up to a large total.

I set mini goals all the time and never more than 7lbs. You celebrate reaching your goals more often and feel like you are getting somewhere and it all adds up to the ultimate goal.

Yes! One day at a time, one pound at a time. I didn't get fat over night, I'm not going to get skinny overnight. But we got this! We can do it!

I did a format that labeled 0. 2 lb and so every time I lost I colored in the blocks. I felt like the visual made me appreciate what I accomplished

Absolutely! I have sooooo much to lose. My goals are 10 lbs at a time! ( such a drop in the bucket). But I lose 10, get really excited and proud, set a new goal and move on. It keeps me motivated.

Yes. This has helped me not to feel so overwhelmed by breaking it down into more manageable goals. My first goal is to be under 200 and I am at 203 this morning. So almost to my first goal (SW was 235). Then my next will be 189, then 179 and so on until I get to my goal weight of 170. I also set mini goals for special occasions. For instance, we are going on a cruise in @faux5 so I am trying to get to 193 before that. Good Luck!

Little goals are easier to attain. Large goals can discourage you.

I have major goals and small goals and dates within. My 1st major was set 1-2-20 for June 1-20 33 lbs. my next major is 8-1-20. An additional 20. I do work with a monthly goal. Helps and remember scales are only 2 seconds and not the whole store. Good to do your body measurements.

I have been thinking about this also. I get so discouraged when I know I have tried and I don't see a change.

1lb a month = 12 lbs at the end of the year! I would be very happy with that.

Yep! I can't lose 20lbs in month, but maybe I can do 7. It's a journey not a race.
