Bc dairy queen puts fillers in there ice cream. If u went to a different ice cream place like a homemade ice cream it would be a lot less
by (550 points)
@stalingrad4 ice cream is made with cream and sugar. Home made or not it’s still going to have a lot of points. Unless you get the no sugar added one.
by (750 points)
@stalingrad4 homemade ice cream traditionally is worse for you unless you have some sort of secret recipe

And the blizzards are usually filled with candy and toppings right? I’ve never had one but I would think probably 10-15 points?
by (5.5k points)
@crownpiece I’m guessing more like 20?
by (230 points)
@crownpiece oh it’s way more than 20 - 48 for a Reese’s large
by (1.8k points)
@crownpiece 60+ for large cookie dough.

Most of the smalls are 30-40 points. Larges are 50-65 points. My mother-in-law was trying to be nice and got a small peanut butter blizzard for my son that is also doing WW and he was horrified to see it was 30 points. He ate half and put it in the freezer.

Well I started back 3 weeks ago. I lost 4 lbs 1st week so I cheated on Sunday after weigh in, spent the rest of week trying to be whete I was. The next week I did exact same thing, weighed in back to same spot. I am not having a blow up self day this week. I am working out 2 hrs 5 days each week and I k ow I am also building muscle as the cellulite belly and thighs are looking much firmer. I have been at this spot for 18 mths or so, probably only because muscle was turning back to fat- TIME TO MOVE ON ME!

I like to get a premier chocolate and blend with a banana and ice is only two point and it is pure protein
by (2.9k points)
@rutherford When you blend the banana it adds points
by (2k points)
@rutherford I do this too! Sometimes I will add two TBSP of the powdered peanut butter if I have the points. Good stuff right there. Have you done the vanilla flavored with a banana and strawberries? Awesome!
by (1.1k points)
@rutherford I do this also but I add 1tbsp cocoa powder. Adds more richness.
by (2.1k points)
@govan how
by (260 points)
@rutherford all blended fruit adds points. It brings out something in them but I don’t remember what.
by (2.9k points)
@rutherford When you blend any fruit they are not zero anymore. If you go to recipe builder/create a recipe. At the bottom there is an option if this is a blended fruit- you have to check it. Bananas definitely have points when blended.
by (2.1k points)
@therron oh woo thanks I didn’t know that
by (13.9k points)
Lots of people who consume blended fruit in MODERATION don't count them if they're 0 on their individual plan. It's a personal choice. No one got fat from eating fruit. You do you though And there's nothing "magical" that happens when you blend fruit to account for added points. It's a way to help you not to overeat. Many people would have a hard time eating a banana, berries, peaches, etc. etc. in one sitting, but if you blend them, they make a nice sized smoothie that you could easily drink. It's designed to help with portion control.
by (4.6k points)
@aglitter75 This! ⬆️ I can’t eat that much fresh fruit at a time but I could plow my way through a ton of fruit in smoothies or dried.

I have to say I have wanted something & knew it would probably point me out but something in me said, so what. I follow my gut feelings. The eat binge that blew my last 2 weigh ins to a zero gain, zero lose, I set myself up for. Not this week. I am not in need of a junk food day. Hopefully this week I will lose
by (730 points)
I have to say I agree with you. I guess no one else has just “gone for it” once you started weight watchers. I too have been blown away by the points of something after the fact. I hope OP doesn’t get discouraged by the shock of responders that “how dare she not know”. I do now believe in tracking first and no longer have a cheat day- like you said it can take a week to recover. ❤️
by (5.1k points)
@dansby yes the cheat daus were planned, and I have just started counting everything but that was my get back on to it time. Now I am back and I am sure I will blow it occassionally but thats life. I wish I would have been able to lose the entire weight 1st time, maintaining it has been fairly easy but life in way. I broke bones, my 90 years old parents needed me and each of their deaths emotionally tore me apart. But I am ready now, I can do this. Fingers crossed

@gilmagilman I thought you were shaking your head at me. I should try to remember how much I was in denial before I lost weight though. I just ate anything not “knowing” it was bad or high in calories.
by (2.7k points)
@rodneyrodolfo9 seriously though a large blizzard? That's a bit of a stretch.
by (540 points)
@gilmagilman This is true. But I can remember getting an Ultimate breakfast sandwich and hash brown from Jack in the box AND a large Frappuccino from Starbucks. Everyday for breakfast. Just going about my life not even thinking it was bad. Oh and wondering why I was 400lbs. At least she is paying attention to what she is eating. And I guess if she wants a treat, she can get the child size blizzard.

Because a large is a ton of ice cream. An actual “serving” of ice cream is only 1/2 cup. A large blizzard is about 2 cups or more of ice cream.

On a related note. What is s good treat at DQ? I ordered a fudge bar yesterday which was 2 or 3 on the app only to be told they don’t have them. I got my son a small shake and wound up with nothing for me as I couldn’t find anything quick in the app that wouldn’t blow a day’s worth of points.
by (1.1k points)
I have a friend that saves up points for a DQ kids cone, 8 points. But the fudge bar is the lowest I found.

I’m confused by this post. If you’re on WW, what would make you think it’s a good idea to get a large dessert and expect change in your weight?
by (460 points)
@selenite1230 because we need to stop telling ourselves we can never indulge or never break the rules! It's ok to do occasionally. But then get refocused. It's the word 'never' that keeps people from changing.
by (990 points)
@andalusia, if nothing changes, nothing changes.
by (460 points)
@selenite1230 I've fallen more times than a toddler - but I got up! And I'm currently very successful in my life & career. It's ok to indulge occasionally (in my opinion) But that's what works for me. I respect your opinion
by (3.5k points)
So agree @andalusia you still have to live hun small steps
by (3.6k points)
You can eat what you want but it’s about making better choices and minimizing portions. No one says you can’t splurge.
by (240 points)
@selenite1230 wow how rude ! She didn’t say she was surprised she gained weight gained weight. So why attack that ? Yes maybe she should have checked the points before ordering but we all have weak moments!
by (990 points)
@skelly35111, this isn’t a weak moment. You don’t have “one weak” moment like this. This is a lifestyle and habit if one needs to ask how a LARGE can be so many points. If this woman is that baffled about the foods she eats, she needs to put in the work, get educated and start putting gearing in motion.
by (990 points)

Honestly Sally, I’m really sorry for all the mean comments. We all make mistakes! I usually get a mini size when I go to DQ and it is personally the perfect portion .
by (7.4k points)
@gent6631 @therron Roszkowicz I really don’t think people are being mean here. They are giving her an honest opinion. Clearly, she intended to eat the blizzard or she would have checked the points first. No choice is the end of the world. I’m sure she now knows that ice cream has mega points so she tracks and moves on. That’s what weeklies are for. In reality, if someone posts something like this, they should expect some critical comments. In fact, maybe she should hear some criticism, it could make her more aware that there could be consequences to her choices. Sally’s an adult and can chose to eat and post whatever she wants. as we all do.

Give her a break. It’s a whole different game when children are involved. it’s not their journey and the kiddos will have pizza and ice cream on a weekly basis. Try taking something with you next time that will help you get by. Good luck sweetheart. most of the time people are more supportive!

First of all, I really believe this is a sarcastic or non-serious/comical post. Second of all, let’s say it IS serious. It would be beneficial to go to meetings and put some research into WW. Support on the back is good, but follow up with what this person needs to do to be successful (which again, would be putting in the work).

Yup. Brutal. My take is if you are trying to lose weight and eat healthy, that should be completely cut out. I know that is not everyone's take on treats. Everything in moderation is so true. But. if I am wanting to get some traction and get my weigh loss journey into full swing, and feel better, cut that stuff out 100%. Doesn't mean you will never have it again but for the time being, no. I am 2 pounds away from goal. I don't feel deprived of anything. I would have eaten one of those without a care in the world. plus a Starbucks Frap! That's what got me into this mess to begin with!

@coyne sure you can use weeklies and roll overs We can have anything in moderation Lifestyle not diet
by (360 points)
You only live once. If you want a blizzard you have one!
by (500 points)
@coyne That is a crazy thing to say. We live in the real world, we're human, and once in a while we can have a treat. And no one really uses the word diet anymore, it's a lifestyle. I hate that word diet because diet is what you're going to go on and then go off which isn't what's supposed to happen. A lifestyle is the way you should be living all the time which means paying attention to what you eat, how much you eat, and how you feel.
by (970 points)
@coyne it’s not a diet a life style Change
by (11.7k points)
There are no forbidden foods. Everything can fit in if one plans for it. And, like everyone else indicates, it's not a diet.
by (2.1k points)
@coyne WW isn’t a diet it’s a lifestyle change lol  spoken as a true blizzard fan! If I get one it’s Oreo cheesecake and it’s a large. If I’m treating myself I’m doing it right lol down 110lbs  blizzards are my favourite treat!

She is human so she had ice cream. In time you learn that the binge eating is getting you no where a slip up is allowed as things start to kick in perhaps next time she will get a small or may say no. Everyone’s journey is different.
by (3.6k points)
@malone I don’t think that’s the point. Everyone is entitled to eat ice cream or any other splurge food. But she is asking why it has so many points. So people are simply providing her with the answer. It’s a large. It’s full of fat and sugar. Simple answer.

Ice cream that is low fat is higher than cartons at the store, a senglenserving size of a blizzard is higher than other ice cream since it has the additional fillers placed in it. 1 serving size of ice cream is 1/2 cup plus then when you multiply by the number of servings in a large you most likely get additional points for each additional 1/2 cup. Then the additional toppings in a large versus the lower size also needs to be multiplied. So a large blizzard is very very high since you are having multiple ice cream servings plus fillers.
